Ayurveda, the Science of Life, has become a mainstream concept. Today, the word “Ayurveda” is often used in marketing, wellness experiences, or body treatments like massage and relaxation. While these can be helpful, Ayurveda is much more than this.
To truly understand Ayurveda in its depth—to understand its principles, philosophy, diagnosis, and therapeutic applications—requires years of study, practice, and guidance. Without proper mentorship, it is easy to remain on the surface of this vast science.
One of the fundamental principles of Ayurveda is understanding the hetu—the root cause that has disturbed the doshas and led to imbalance. In a true Ayurvedic consultation, identifying the hetu is often the first and most important step. When the cause is recognized and removed, the body has the opportunity to restore balance and reverse the progression of disease. This process requires not only theoretical knowledge but also a significant amount of authentic clinical experience, observation, and understanding.
This weekend in Zürich, we had the opportunity to go one step beyond the way Ayurveda is often presented in the West. During the intensive course Advanced Principles of Ayurvedic Therapy & Chikitsa, we immersed ourselves in a traditional way of learning: studying the classical Samhitas, discussing clinical applications, and learning directly from the decades of experience of Dr. Gaurav Davee.
What made this gathering special was the sincerity of the participants, who came from Switzerland and other countries with a strong desire to deepen their understanding and practice.
We believe Ayurveda should be understood in its true form: not only as massage or wellness, but as a complete medical system for health, prevention, and longevity.
My sincere gratitude to everyone who joined. Your commitment made this weekend truly meaningful.
A special thank you to Dr. Gaurav Davee for sharing his knowledge with generosity, and to all who traveled to be part of it.
