You track your splits, your watts, your reps. But do you know what your blood is doing?

Performance plateaus often have nothing to do with effort. They're about what's happening underneath: iron stores quietly dropping, inflammation keeping your body in repair mode, hormones not supporting recovery the way they used to.

Swipe through to see the markers that matter most for how you perform, recover, and adapt.

When weight won't shift despite doing everything right, there's usually something going on beneath the surface: insulin resistance locking your body in fat-storage mode, a thyroid that's underconverting, chronic inflammation feeding a cycle your body can't break on its own.

These aren't rare conditions. They're common, they're interconnected, and they're invisible on a standard blood panel. But they are testable.

Swipe for 8 markers that are worth checking — what each one is, why it matters, and how it could be the missing piece. Book a check-up with us or save this for your next conversation with your doctor.

If you want to know your risk of a heart attack, there's one number worth knowing: your calcium score.

In part one of our mini series, Sven (co-founder of Ahead Health) explains what it actually measures. Risk factors like high blood pressure, smoking, or elevated cholesterol can damage the inner lining of your arteries. Your body sends calcium to stabilise the damage, and over time that becomes calcified plaque, narrowing the arteries that feed your heart.

The calcium score is the only way to see this buildup directly, starting at minimal blockage. Conventional screening with a stress EKG only picks up significant narrowing.

Part two is next: what to expect when you do the scan.

PCOS just got a new name. Here's why it matters.
As of May 2026, polycystic o***y syndrome is officially polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS), following a major international consensus published in The Lancet.

The old name never quite fit. Most women with a PCOS diagnosis have follicles, not cysts. What they have is a hormonal and metabolic condition driven by androgen excess and disrupted insulin signaling. The "polycystic" appearance on ultrasound is a finding, not the disease.

PMOS shifts the frame to what science has shown for years: a multisystemic syndrome affecting hormones, metabolism, and reproductive health. The diagnostic criteria remain the same. What changes is the framing, and for 1 in 10 women affected globally, that framing can shape everything from how they understand their condition to how it's managed.

If you suspect PMOS, a thorough workup goes beyond a standard check-up. Swipe through to see what's changed, what it means, and which markers matter most.

Second place at IRONMAN Hamburg, and the start of something we’re really excited about. 🥈

We’re proud to welcome triathlete Laura Philipp to the Ahead Health family. She marked the start of it with a podium finish this weekend. After a tough few months, Laura crossed the line fit and fast, just 90 seconds behind the winner.

What the partnership is about: giving Laura a clearer picture of what’s happening inside her body. For an athlete, that means training smarter and recovering better, race after race.

But it goes beyond performance. The same checkups that help Laura optimise her training also catch the things that matter long term, so she can stay healthy long after the finish line, not just on race day.

Congratulations, Laura. This is just the beginning. We’re excited for everything to come 👏

You're sleeping eight hours and waking up exhausted. Your weight has shifted without any obvious reason. You walk into a room and forget why you're there.

Your period still comes. Your blood test says "normal." So you carry on.

But here's the thing: perimenopause can begin a decade before your last period. That means the brain fog, the fatigue, the mood shifts, the sleep that never quite restores you, it can start in your late 30s / early 40s. And a standard blood test isn't designed to catch it.

If you suspect that you are in early menopause, it is worth measuring your estradiol, FSH, LH, progesterone, SHBG, testosterone, DHEA-S, and put them in context with thyroid function, vitamin D, and where you are in your cycle.

You can find the full article on our website. It covers what perimenopause is, when it starts, what the symptoms look like, what to test, and what to do with the results.

When someone trusts us with a full-body MRI and 80+ biomarkers, they're not handing over a file. They're handing over a deeply personal picture of their health.

Most people don't think about where their health data lives, who can access it, or what happens to it. And many companies don't make it easy to find out. Privacy policies are long, vague, and written for lawyers, not patients.

We think that should be different. At Ahead, privacy and security aren't things we layer on at the end — they're part of how we build from the start. That means minimizing what we collect, encrypting everything at rest and in transit, keeping data residency anchored in Switzerland and the EU, maintaining full audit trails, and treating your rights and consents as design principles, not afterthoughts.

You deserve to know what happens to your data. And you should feel comfortable asking.
