At the Smart Healthcare track at the Taiwan-Sweden Joint Business Council Meeting in Taipei, our Director of Testing, Usher Yeh joined a discussion on how home-based drug delivery can support patients, caregivers, and healthcare systems.

Taiwan and Sweden are dealing with similar pressures: aging populations and shrinking caregiver workforces, but each brings something different to the table. Strong engineering, scalable manufacturing, and a real commitment to innovation make this a bilateral space worth watching.

As care moves closer to home, what’s expected of drug delivery devices is shifting too. Ease of use, patient experience, and supporting stronger treatment insights are becoming core to what good device design looks like in the years ahead.

We were glad to contribute to this exchange alongside government officials, hospital leaders, research institutions, and industry peers from both countries. We look forward to seeing how this collaboration develops.

Early design decisions can define how much flexibility a combination product program has as it moves toward commercialization.

At PCI Pharma Services’ Expert Exchange Seminar Series in Basel, SHL Medical’s Michael McGowan will join Paul Smallman of PCI Pharma Services to discuss human-centered device and packaging design, from patient needs and usability to manufacturability, scalability, and sustainability.

The session will cover:
🔹Understanding patient experience, user needs, human factors, and usability
🔹Navigating technical requirements across primary packaging and formulation
🔹Designing for manufacturability and scalability, including platform and bespoke approaches
🔹Considering sustainability through material choices, recyclability, and carbon footprint reduction
🔹Balancing performance, compliance, and environmental responsibility

Looking forward to continuing the discussion in Basel.

SHL Medical was honored to join the ECCT 2026 Europe Day Dinner as a Gold Sponsor.

With more than 800 guests in attendance and President Dr. Lai Ching-te joining as guest of honor, the evening brought together leaders from government, business, and industry to exchange perspectives on the continued development of Europe-Taiwan business relations.

Sebastian Feng, General Manager of SHL Medical Taiwan, represented the company at the dinner, where the wider exchange touched on cross-sector opportunities in areas that increasingly intersect with global healthcare supply chains.

As a Swiss company with deep roots in Taiwan, these conversations are closely connected to how we operate. Over recent years, we have expanded manufacturing capabilities, built academia-industry partnerships, and advanced green logistics initiatives that support the infrastructure behind global pharma supply chain.

Thank you to the European Chamber of Commerce Taiwan for a well-organized evening and for continuing to build these connections.

South Carolina’s life sciences industry continues to gain momentum, and we recently had the opportunity to highlight that progress during Mayor Reginald Burgess’ visit to SHL Medical’s North Charleston site.

From discussions on manufacturing and workforce development to a tour of our autoinjector production facility, the visit offered a closer look at the technologies and operations supporting SHL Medical’s expanding manufacturing presence in the US.

During the visit, Mayor Burgess joined our North Charleston team in recognizing the 100th shipment delivered to one of our pharma partners, marking an important milestone in the site’s continued growth.

Conversations with our team members also highlighted how advanced manufacturing supports the Lowcountry’s evolving life sciences sector while reflecting SHL Medical’s focus on manufacturing, innovation, and workforce growth. Since establishing operations in the state, SHL Medical has created hundreds of jobs and continues to expand our footprint in the region.

We thank Mayor Burgess for taking the time to visit our site and engage in discussions on the continued growth of manufacturing and life sciences in South Carolina.

Subcutaneous delivery is pushing past the conventional 1.0–2.0 mL range, and the discussion is shifting from how can we deliver larger volumes to how do we make it work in practice.

At the Drug-Device Combination Products for Parenteral Use 2026 workshop in Basel, SHL Medical’s Alex Lyness, PhD, will present at the podium and join a panel discussion on what it takes to enable large-volume subcutaneous injection. These sessions will explore how increasing injection volumes and formulation complexity are reshaping device design, particularly in the 2.0–5.0 mL space, where delivery approaches are still evolving.

If you’re interested in how large-volume subcutaneous delivery is evolving, we welcome you to join the sessions at Novotel Basel City on June 10.

Multiple sclerosis is often diagnosed when life is still taking shape: careers beginning, families growing, independence expanding, and plans changing. For many people, diagnosis and long-term treatment become part of that same life stage.

This , we join the campaign in calling for earlier and accurate diagnosis, as well as stronger support for the MS community.

At SHL Medical, our role begins in what comes next. Since 2012, we have worked with pharma partners to develop self-injection systems for biologics, complex polypeptides, and generics used in MS treatment, contributing to a broader track record across more than 60 combination product launches worldwide.

As MS care continues to evolve, we are proud to support solutions that help long-term care fit more naturally into the lives people are building. 🧡

Seeing a real automated production line up close can make an industry feel very different from what people imagine.

At SHL Medical’s Taiwan site, students from electronics and information technology classes at Wu-Ling Senior High School stepped beyond the classroom to get a closer look at the technologies, engineering, and production environments behind medical device manufacturing.

Our colleagues Nathan Chiu from the Quality Engineering team and Christoph Schindler from SHL Advantec shared insights into medical device manufacturing and how automated production lines are planned and built, including how software and hardware are brought together in real production environments.

Many students were especially curious about the automation technologies used in large-scale production. Touring our production lines also helped bring those conversations to life by giving students the chance to see these technologies operating firsthand.

For SHL Medical, experiences like these are an opportunity to help future talent better understand the industry and discover new possibilities for where engineering can be applied in healthcare.

In lyophilized drug delivery, it is not enough for the system to work. The device, reconstitution approach, and assembly strategy must also be seamlessly aligned to support a realistic path to commercialization.

At PFS and IDD West Coast, SHL Medical's Dr. Nina Fetz will be speaking about these early development considerations in lyophilized drug delivery, and what they can mean for pharma teams as they move beyond technical feasibility through a real-world case study.

The session will also feature Reunite, our dual-chamber cartridge autoinjector for lyophilized drug delivery. Built with our proprietary Needle Isolation Technology (NIT), it simplifies a complex vial-based injection process into just three steps.

Join us in San Diego to continue the conversation.
