Bump Birth & Beyond

Bump Birth & Beyond A gentle, holistic approach to all things pregnancy, birth and beyond... Mother, Wife, Birth Attendant, Woman. It’s my heart’s calling.

My name is Domenica Bambino and I am the creator of Bump, Birth and Beyond, a platform dedicated to a gentle, holistic approach to all things pregnancy, birth and beyond...

I wish to contribute to a universal improvement of birth and health; to inform, support, educate and empower. Since I was a child, I’ve been fascinated with all aspects of pregnancy, birth and babies. With a background in natu

ropathy and a history of ill health as a child, my interest in natural living grew rapidly and my trust in the capacity of the human body carries over into my career. Passion is a strong word, but it describes how I feel toward the birthing experience. I spend hours reading and researching and appreciate and respect that each woman and each experience is completely unique. Melbourne based, the multicultural melting pot of Australia, I live with my four children and I enjoy an active and healthy lifestyle. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, Bump, Birth & Beyond is safe, welcoming space to find facts, evidence and relevant information about your options during pregnancy and childbirth, and a way to start conversations with your loved ones and healthcare providers about those options. Future generations rely on healthy, happy, informed, loved, supported mothers.

✨ WOMEN ARE MAGNIFICENT ✨

We are strong. We are capable. We are amazing!

Do not fear birth. Prepare for it!

Birth is a normal physiological process and a primal, sacred rite of passage.

INFORMATION IS POWER // This account has been set up on the same principle as s*x education - I would rather you were uncomfortable and not ignorant.

Every birth only happens ONE time. It is a once in a lifetime event. There is no do-over. You only get one chance.

Would you attempt to climb Mt Everest without thorough research, a support crew and preparation?...
You would certainly not show up on the day and hope for the best!

Yes, birth is a normal physiological, instinctive process, however we have been conditioned in such a way that many women have absolutely no exposure to birth and little, to no, ability to tap into these primal instincts.

Please spend your time, money and energy researching pregnancy/birth/postpartum/breastfeeding.

Birth trauma is very real and postpartum depression/post traumatic stress is very serious.

Birth has become taboo, demonised and surrounded by messages of fear.
I am frustrated and concerned with the dangerously high intervention rates.
I am grateful for the science and technology available, in the event of true medical need, but are women told about the risks and side effects of intervention?

Do women know they can refuse consent? You have the right to say "no", the same way you can say no in the bedroom and the workplace.

We have been failed by society, mass media and the current culture.

All women deserve beautiful, empowered births.

And to be nurtured postpartum.

Surround yourself with beautiful, positive stories and messages of birth - they do exist and desperately need to rise to the surface to encourage, inspire and support women.

As the wonderful Dr Michel Odent once said "One cannot help an involuntary process. The point is not to disturb it."

I really do believe we need to see images of birth. They change our perceptions of what our culture has taught us, that stereotypical presentation of birth as an intensely painful experience that's full of drama, being endured rather than enjoyed.

“May we raise children
who love the unloved
things – the dandelion, the
worms and spiderlings.
Children who sense
the rose needs the thorn

and run into rainswept days
the same way they
turn towards sun.

And when they’re grown and
someone has to speak for those
who have no voice

may they draw upon that
wilder bond, those days of
tending tender things

and be the ones.”

DID YOU TOUCH YOUR CORD //

The cord is a miraculous highway of nutrition and life.

Did you feel your cord?

It’s a cool opportunity to touch one of your own organs and admire how intelligent your body is. I love that this mom invited her family to touch it too.

✋🏼This is the hand of an 8-year-old boy who placed his hand on a petri dish after coming inside from playing.

Now I am sure at first glance you thought to yourself how disgusting this is and how this MUST be a bad thing, however, it is actually the contrary.
🧫First I want to point out that we are made up of more foreign matter than we are our own cellular DNA. Let me explain, there are more microbes in and on your body that quantitatively make up more cells than the ones that are YOU.
🦠The microbiota is said to be about 1.3 for every 1 cell that is our own. These microbes are responsible for keeping us healthy, digesting our food, creating nutrients, assimilating our vitamins/minerals, the processing of our information/neurotransmitters, our immunity and nearly every process and mechanism in the entire body. They exist in your mouth, on your skin and most importantly in your gut. (Terrain)
🦠With the continuous rise of industrialized farming, environmental toxins, and even the overuse of hand sanitizers, we are not only depleting the microbes in our soil but the ones on our bodies, too. This is like taking down our force field and allowing the pathogenic bacteria, viruses, mold, and other pathogens to infiltrate.
🦠This post is to continue to create awareness that bacteria/fungus/yeast are not truly “bad,” and we must support a healthy microbiome inside/out. THEY ARE OUR FRIENDS and we must respect life even down to its smallest counterparts.
🦠The avg. human should have about 3.5lbs of gut flora in the intestines, however, on the standard American diet of overly processed/refined foods and the overconsumption of pesticides/insecticides, as well as the other near 80K man-made chemicals we interact with daily, we would be lucky to have a couple ozs.
🦠Do your best to avoid alcohol-based hand sanitizers as they kill our first line of defense, the same for your mouth, avoid using alcohol-based mouthwashes and synthetic chemicals in/on your bodies; you want to support our little friends, not kill them off. 👾 PARENTS this is especially important for your developing children and THEIR microbiome!📸

REBIRTH //

Who are you aside from being a mother?...

It is so easy to get lost in a world of parenting, meal prep, constant cleaning, washing, packing away, bedtime routines, attending to the needs of others.

It is easy to fall into the cycle of nurturing everyone else while you suffer.

We cannot set an example by neglecting ourselves.

Here's to living an authentic life, to self love, to self care, to remembering and honouring that first and foremost we are a human, with a heart, mind and soul that needs nourishing and attention too 💜

Here's to rebirth ✨

Nature never hesitates to simply be itself. Why do we?...

We ought to be more like nature. Free to be ourselves.

The universe has never seen us or what we are capable of ever before. We are perfectly unique and have so much to offer.

We must have the freedom to be who we are. To make choices that are our own. To protect our rights, our thoughts, our bodies, our families and our environment.

At this very moment, my spirit is with the masses that are fighting for freedom.

🚨Silence is compliance 🚨

WHAT IS INFORMED CONSENT?

Informed consent is the process whereby a patient makes a voluntary decision about their medical care with
knowledge and understanding of the benefits and potential risks involved.
A patient should only agree to the proposed treatment or procedure if he or she has been provided with sufficient
information including the benefits, associated risks and alternative management options, so they are able to make
an appropriate decision about their own healthcare.
Subsequently, medical practitioner should only undertake a medical procedure or provide treatment to a
patient who has given their consent. Failure to obtain a patient’s consent may increase the risk of medico-legal
action.
What constitutes valid consent?
For consent to be valid, it is crucial that:
• consent is provided voluntarily by the patient
• patients providing their consent are lawfully competent to do so
• patients are given sufficient information so they can evaluate the benefits and associated risks before providing
their informed consent
• consent be given with an understanding of the risks involved in the proposed procedure/treatment.
Therefore, a known risk should always be disclosed to the patient when:
• an adverse outcome is common, even if the detriment is minimal
• an outcome is severe, even if its incidence is rare.
Given the above, it is paramount that medical practitioners proposing medical treatments or procedures, inform
their patients of the risks associated with the suggested treatment/procedure so they are able to make an
informed decision about their healthcare.

The irony of the vaccine discussion is that parties on both sides want exactly the same thing - health!

Why is it then that the subject has become so polarised?...

Who are we being influenced by?

What are we influenced by?

How are we educating ourselves on the matter?

How much research has been done?

Why is it so difficult to respect the choices that other people make, without being judgemental?

We are all very different. We have different cultural, religious, ethical and moral backgrounds. Is it our place to decide how the entire population needs to eat/behave/live?

We cannot be obligated to justify the personal choices we make, particularly on a subject with so many variables.

Where there is a risk, there must be a choice.

I have nothing against anyone for choosing to vaccinate. I am pro-choice, pro-informed consent and pro-medical freedom.

Bodily autonomy is a human right.

It's not my responsibility to make other people comfortable with the choices I make for my family.

"...Like all parents, the decisions that we make are to give our children the best opportunity to live a healthy, fulfilling life.

Right now we are seeing other families, like our own, having their rights stripped from them.
They are being told that they no longer have a choice about what gets put into their bodies.

As written in the Australian Government Immunisation Handbook, vaccines must be given voluntarily in the absence of undue pressure, coercion or manipulation. Is the ultimatum to get the shot or not visit a relative in an aged care facility not pressure? Is it not coercion when you are told you won’t be paid if you refuse an injection? Is rushing people into a procedure without giving them time to make an informed decision not manipulation?

Instead of ridiculing peoples decisions, try to understand their concerns. Listen to the people who have endured their own personal heartaches from adverse reactions caused by vaccines because their voices matter and so does our right to choose.

The freedoms we give away now will be the laws our children have to abide by in the future." Reposted from
