St. John's Wort has a corner in my garden, and if you keep your eyes peeled - along nearly every trail. I planted her in a sunny corner and she came into full bloom this summer with bright yellow flowers. Pinch one of her buds and it stains your fingers a deep reddish-purple, which is that signature red pigment at work. It's the same compound that turns a jar of infused oil a rich ruby color, ready to become a salve for winter. She has a long history of use for skin and nerve care, and she's become one of my favorites to grow. 🌿
