BDA therapy - Biomechanical Developmental Approach

BDA therapy - Biomechanical Developmental Approach BDA therapy is an innovative approach designed to support individuals with developmental difficulties, helping them reach their full potential.

In children with scoliosis and kyphosis, the problem is not only the position of the spine.
Over time, the body may start to change the way it keeps stability, organizes movement, and uses breathing during everyday activities.

That is why in BDA therapy we focus not only on posture, but on how the whole body functions together.

During the therapy process, we work on:
• better movement organization
• trunk stability
• rib cage mobility
• breathing quality
• more functional use of the body

The goal of therapy is not only to change body position, but to improve movement quality with fewer compensations and better stability in everyday activities.

This video shows part of the BDA therapy process in children with scoliosis and kyphosis.

Many children do not struggle only with muscle strength.
The body often lacks stability, clear organization, and control of movement.
Because of that, movement can become difficult, unstable, and less functional.

In BDA therapy, we use TheraTogs as additional support for the body during therapy and everyday activities.

Its role is not to “hold” the body instead of the muscles, but to provide gentle and continuous support that helps improve posture and movement organization.

When the body gets better stability and support:
• posture becomes more organized
• the trunk becomes more stable
• movement becomes more precise
• walking becomes safer
• the body uses fewer compensations

Within the BDA approach, we do not see the suit as a solution by itself, but as a tool that can help a child access better and more functional movement.

At the BDA Center, parents can receive a professional assessment, purchase a TheraTogs suit, and learn how to use it properly.

Posture and movement in children with cerebral palsy are not only about muscles and strength.
The body works as a connected system, where stability, fascia, organization, and internal support affect the quality of every movement.

In BDA therapy, we look at the body as a whole, because movement quality does not depend on just one part of the body, but on how the entire system is connected, organized, and supported from within.

When the body gets better conditions for stability and organization, movement can become more functional, more stable, and easier for everyday life.

🧠 Neurofeedback and Nervous System Regulation

When the nervous system is not well regulated, it can affect attention, focus, sleep, emotional regulation, and daily functioning.

Neurofeedback is a method that helps the brain gradually develop more stable and efficient patterns through a learning process.

The goal of treatment is not just a temporary change in behavior, but support for better nervous system organization and regulation.

Neurofeedback may help improve:
• focus and attention
• stress and tension regulation
• emotional regulation
• sleep quality
• organization of reactions and daily functioning

It is used with both children and adults as support for better nervous system function and overall quality of life.

Fascia is connective tissue that supports and connects the entire body. When it is healthy and mobile, the body moves more easily, with better stability and function.
In many children with cerebral palsy, genetic conditions, and developmental difficulties, fascia can become tight, rigid, and “stuck” over time.
As a result, movement requires much more effort.
The body begins to create compensations, which can lead to tension, limited mobility, and difficulty using the body efficiently.

The Fascia Vibe technique uses targeted vibration stimulation to support natural gliding between fascial layers, improve circulation, and stimulate tissue regeneration.
The goal of therapy is not only for movement to exist, but for the body to move with better quality, less effort, and improved function.

With regular use, it may help with:
• reducing tension
• improving mobility
• supporting better tissue function
• making movement easier and more natural
• improving body awareness and stability

After several sessions, some parents notice softer movements, easier body activation, and less resistance during movement and therapy work.

When the body does not have enough stability, control, or a clear sense of movement, it does not stop working. It finds another way. That is how compensation happens.

Movement still happens, but with more effort, lower quality, and by using body parts that are not meant for that movement.

At first, it may look like the child can do it, but the body is working more than it should.

That is why in therapy we do not just fix the movement. We look for the reason why the body had to find another way.

When the body conditions improve, compensation is no longer needed. Movement becomes easier, more stable, and more functional.

When a child has difficulties with speech, the question often arises – where to start?

Speech is a motor skill.
For it to develop, precise coordination of breathing, posture, the jaw, and tongue movements is essential.

Before words appear, the body builds a foundation:
stability, regulation, and quality of movement.

When these foundations are in place, speech develops more naturally and with greater ease.
When they are not, a child may have difficulty accessing these functions.

That is why we do not view speech as an isolated skill, but as part of the child’s overall development.

In speech therapy, the focus is on building strong foundations so that speech can become functional, clear and sustainable.

Progress happens through daily, guided activities in the environment where your child feels most comfortable - at home.
That is why we focus on empowering parents. We want you to feel confident and prepared at every step of your child’s development.

Through individual sessions and practical training, we teach you how to perform exercises correctly, understand your child’s cues, and turn everyday activities into part of their developmental journey.

This approach is designed for parents of children with cerebral palsy, genetic or metabolic conditions, Down syndrome, and other developmental needs.

Working at home is not a replacement for professional therapy.
It is its continuation.

In therapy, the focus is often placed on what a person cannot do. But that’s not where real progress lies. The key to development is in the conditions in which the body attempts to learn movement.

When the body lacks stability, every movement is built through compensations. Such movement is not sustainable and does not transfer into everyday activities.

The Pragma system introduces what is often missing in therapy controlled conditions for learning.

Through unloading and precise support, the body gains the opportunity to:
– establish a more efficient organization of movement
– activate muscles in a functional way
– maintain stability without additional effort

In these conditions, movement stops being an attempt and becomes a pattern that can be repeated.
