Are you thinking about freezing your eggs?
Maybe you’re focused on your career, haven’t met the right partner yet or simply don’t feel ready for a family today. Whatever your reason, it’s natural to have questions. Here are some of the most common ones:
➜ What is the best age for egg freezing?
There is no single “perfect” age, but earlier is generally better. The early 30s can be a good time because egg quality and quantity are usually more favourable. Egg freezing can also be considered later in your 30s and beyond, although success gradually decreases with age.
➜ How many eggs should I freeze?
There is no magic number. It depends mainly on your age and ovarian reserve. For many women, around 12–15 mature eggs may provide a reasonable chance of a future pregnancy, but your individual target may differ.
➜ Can frozen eggs lead to a healthy pregnancy & baby?
Absolutely. Eggs are frozen using vitrification, a rapid-freezing technique with very good egg survival rates. Success is generally higher when eggs are frozen at a younger age.
➜ Is the procedure painful or dangerous?
Treatment usually involves 10–12 days of hormone injections followed by a short egg-retrieval procedure under sedation. Mild bloating or discomfort can occur and most women return to their routine within a day or two. An experienced fertility specialist and clinical team are important for safe, carefully monitored treatment.
➜ If I get naturally later, do I have to use my frozen eggs?
No. Your frozen eggs are simply another option for your future. If you conceive naturally, you may never need to use them.
