Many parents are told a very simplified story about oral health:
Sugar causes cavities.

But the reality is more complex.

The health of the mouth is influenced by many factors — including saliva, bacterial balance, breathing habits, nutrition, and the overall oral environment.

This does not make prevention harder.
It makes it more complete.

Because when we understand the mouth as part of the whole body, we begin to ask better questions — and support health earlier.

This is part of oral-systemic health.

Today, I had the opportunity to take this work a step further.

The books that were not sold at the event, were donated to the children’s hospital in Nicosia, where they will be shared with children during their stay. 🏥

A few copies were also placed in the public library. 📚

Understanding health should not be limited.
It should be accessible — especially for children. 🫶

The mouth is part of the body.
And this is something every child deserves to learn.

What a beautiful day at the Little Heroes event ❤️

I met so many wonderful children and parents at my stand, and one thing became very clear:
Many parents have only been told the simple story: “Sugar + not brushing = cavities.”

But children’s oral health is often connected to so much more.

At the stand, children practiced brushing on the big mouth model, colored pages from my books, played games, and parents shared real daily struggles — children who don’t want to brush, dirty teeth, gum problems, pacifier-related open bite, and questions about how the mouth connects to the whole body.

This is exactly why I created my children’s books and educational materials: to help families understand oral health in a gentle, playful, and holistic way.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, asked questions, shared stories, and supported the project.

The mouth is not separate from the body. And children deserve to learn this with joy, not fear ❤️

What is a Tongue Tie & Why Myofunctional Therapy Matters! 👅✨

A tongue tie (also called ankyloglossia) is when the thin band of tissue under the tongue (lingual frenulum) is too short or tight, restricting tongue movement. This can affect speech, swallowing, breathing, and even jaw development!

Many people got a lingual frenulum cut, when they were babies (frenectomy is a procedure to release the tongue tie), but mostly they didn't have any therapy done after the release, which most probably made that the tissue grew together again, in a way that the tongue again got restricted.

Did you know that myofunctional therapy before and after the frenulum cut is as important as the cut itself?

Myofunctional Therapy:

✅ Before the release: The therapy helps strengthen and prepare the tongue for better movement, ensuring the best possible results.
