WFIPP is pleased to announce the World Continence Week (WCW) World Continence Week 2026 - 15-21 June 2026
World Continence Week (WCW) is an annual initiative devised and managed by WFIPP, with the endorsement and support of the International Continence Society (ICS), European Association of Urology(EAU) and the Ibero-American Society of Neurourology and Urogynaecology (SINUG).
It is a global initiative intended to raise awareness of bladder & bowel issues, chronic pelvic pain and other debilitating conditions which impact greatly on the lives of patients, families and carers. Our main themes for 2026 are Incontinence and long term institutionalized care, Menopause and incontinence, Male incontinence, Mental Health and incontinence, Kids and bedwetting, Comorbidities e.g. MS, diabetes, stroke, Alzheimer/dementia, Women’s health and incontinence and WFIPP’s 20th Anniversary,
Clearly, the objective is to raise global awareness of such conditions and help remove stigmas and taboos via events, publications, press releases and the like.
After all, bladder weakness alone (notwithstanding faecal incontinence) affects 1 in 3 women and 1 in 10 men and is more common than hay fever. So the message is simple: let’s get out there and ‘do something’ for the 400+ million to ensure the success of WCW26.

“Why haven’t I seen my surgeon?”
It’s a question many patients ask after surgery.
Too often, the surgeon disappears after the procedure, and follow-up care is delegated to others. At the Institute of Urology, Limassol, we believe that surgery comes with ongoing responsibility.
For us, this means personally contacting our patients the day after surgery and examining them ourselves on the first postoperative day.
We continue with structured follow-up visits at one week and one month after the procedure.
Importantly, we remain available to our patients at all times during the first postoperative month, especially in the event of any emergency.
Because for us, your care doesn’t stop after the procedure—it continues every step of the way.

What is an emergency condition in urology?
Urological emergencies include a range of conditions, including urinary tract infections (UTIs), kidney stones, urinary retention, and testicular torsion. If not treated quickly, these infections can cause severe pain and discomfort and potentially life-threatening complications.

The Institute of Functional & Reconstructive Urology focuses on diagnosing, managing, and treating conditions related to the urinary system and reproductive health. This often includes both functional urology (conditions affecting urinary function, such as incontinence or overactive bladder) and reconstructive urology (surgical interventions to repair or reconstruct the urinary tract and related structures).
Common areas of focus include:
• Urinary Incontinence: Treatments to restore control over bladder function.
• Pelvic Floor Disorders: Management of issues like pelvic organ prolapse.
• Reconstructive Surgery: Procedures to address trauma, congenital abnormalities, or complications from previous surgeries.
• Neurogenic Bladder: Treatment of urinary dysfunction caused by neurological disorders.
• Male and Female Sexual Health: Addressing conditions such as erectile dysfunction or vaginal atrophy.
• Urethral Strictures: Repair or reconstruction of narrowed or blocked urethras.
• Prostate and Bladder Health: Management of benign or malignant conditions affecting these organs.
