Why are embryos frozen during IVF?

Embryo cryopreservation is an important part of modern fertility treatment, allowing embryos created during an IVF cycle to be safely stored for future use.

Frozen embryos can be transferred in a later treatment cycle without the need for additional ovarian stimulation or egg retrieval, providing greater flexibility and reducing the physical demands of treatment.

In some situations, such as when there is an increased risk of ovarian hyperstimulation or when additional medical preparation is needed before embryo transfer, freezing all embryos may be the safest and most appropriate approach.

Today, embryos are frozen using vitrification, an advanced cryopreservation technique that offers excellent post-thaw survival rates and preserves embryo viability for future treatment.

A regular period does not always mean you are ovulating.

Having a menstrual cycle that appears regular does not necessarily mean that ovulation occurs every month.

Some women experience anovulatory cycles, where menstrual bleeding occurs but no egg is released. In these cycles, pregnancy cannot occur despite the presence of a period.
