Do you really need bed rest after embryo transfer?
One of the most common IVF myths is that staying in bed improves the chances of implantation. In reality, scientific evidence has shown that prolonged bed rest after embryo transfer does not increase pregnancy rates.
For most patients, resting for approximately 1–3 hours after the embryo transfer is sufficient. Afterwards, returning to normal daily activities is considered safe and may even help reduce anxiety and stress.
During the first 2–3 days, gentle activities such as walking around the house, light household tasks, and routine daily movements are perfectly acceptable. However, strenuous exercise, heavy lifting, and high-intensity activities should be avoided.
Every IVF journey is unique, so always follow the recommendations of your fertility specialist regarding post-transfer care.
