Our little island has made it to the map of the very central scene of EFT research and applied psychology for the 3rd time!

It was such an honour that our Institute participated in the yearly International isEFT Head of Institutes & EFT Trainers Meeting the last two days.

The meeting was held online with professionals from all over the world, including America, Canada, Japan, Singapore, China, Australia,UK, Italy,Germany. The main founders of the approach including Prof Les Greenberg and Prof Robert Elliott, as well as Prof Sandra Paivio, Prof Antoine Pascual Leone and Prof Rhonda Goldman, were there to inspire the new generation of EFT trainers.

We work very hard to be able to support our emerging EFT community in Cyprus and make sure they are well supported in reaching their full potential of clinical skills when working with core emotional pain.

Prof Robert Elliott, PhD Clinical Psychologist

Robert received his PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles. He Is an
internationally recognized psychologist,
researcher, and trainer. He has led EFT training in the States, many parts of Europe. and Asia.

He is co-author of important books in the field of Psychology, including: Facilitating emotional change, learning emotion Focused therapy, Counselling psychology in action, Research methods in clinical psychology, as well as author of more than 200 journals articles and hook chapters.

He has received the Distinguished Research Career Award of the Society of Psychotherapy Research, and the Carl Rogers Award from APA for his distinguished work in the field.

Everyone in the profession knows who Prof Robert Elliott is!

A decade later, and after I have met some of the top international psychologists of the world, my opinion for Robert hasn’t changed. Not only he is one of the living legends in our field, an exceptionally charismatic therapist and researcher; not only he is a generous mentor and a passionate trainer; above all, he is a kind, sincere, caring and humble soul. That I believe is the rare charisma of Robert: in a world full of successful people, he is a lighthouse of kindness that leads people to change: one psychologist at a time, one client at a time, one interaction at the time.

We are grateful he chose the Cyprus Institute for Emotion Focused Therapy for his last in-person training at this part of the world and we look forward to our future collaborations!

This training was truly an honour! Four fantastic, days full of inspiration and emotion transformation… Almost like a dream - Robert choosing Cyprus for his last in-person training at this part of the world..

There was Professor Robert Elliott, one of the founders of the approach, standing there, in front of us,at the university of Cyprus, generously sharing 40+ years of clinical knowledge and research…

And then there was this fantastic group of people… some of them somewhat skeptical and hesitant the first day of the training, yet curious to see what this approach is all about. As a facilitator I could see these people tentatively changing by day two. It was truly touching to watch you guys being able to lean more into the client’s pain as therapists and experience this transformation as clients too in the skills practices!

To each of you who have come to the Cyprus Institute for Emotion Focused Therapy (CiEFT) for the inspiration, the intellectual knowledge, and the opportunity to explore the deepest healing, we will ensure that CiEFT becomes a supportive community for you and your journey!

Our role when offering these trainings, is very clear - with a tenacious belief in human potential we hope to help more therapists facilitate meaningful emotional transformation… One therapist at a time… one client at a time.

There are many mental health practitioners in the world … and to those of you that strive for excellence, I am proud to share these training experiences with you.

Πιστευω έντονα οτι η ζωη μας αποκτά περισσότερο νόημα αναλόγως του αντίκτυπου που εχει στις ζωές των άλλων. Όσο μεγαλώνω αυτή θέλω να είναι και η πυξίδα μου στην ζωή.

Γραφω λοιπον αυτό το μηνυμα αρχικα για να ευχαριστήσω όλους όσοι ακολουθειτε αυτή την σελιδα, για την εμπιστοσύνη και την στήριξη, και να σας ενημερώσω για μια ομορφη εξέλιξη.

Όσοι ακολουθειτε αυτή την σελίδα από το 2017 γνωρίζετε ότι έγινε με πολλή αγαπη και ανάγκη για την μετάδοση γνώσης και ευαισθητοποίησης σε θέματα ψυχικής υγείας. Κάθε φορα που καποιος από εσας έπαιρνε το θάρρος να ζητήσει βοήθεια και να μην υποφερει μόνος/η του, ήταν μια σημαντική επιτυχία.

Μετά από 4 χρόνια στην Κύπρο και με μια ιδέα που χτίζεται τα τελευταία 7 χρόνια με την εξειδίκευση μου στην Συναισθηματικά Εστιασμένη Θεραπεία, ήρθε λοιπόν η ώρα να σας ενημερώσω και επίσημα ότι μεγαλώσαμε όμορφα.

Με μεγάλη χαρά, και ιδιαίτερη τιμή και συγκίνηση σας παρουσιαζω λοιπόν το Ινστιτουτο Συναισθηματικά Εστιασμένης Θεραπειας στην Κύπρο (Cyprus Institute for Emotion Focused Therapy).

Το Cyprus Institute for Emotion Focused Therapy είναι το μοναδικό του είδους του στην Κύπρο και είναι διεθνώς αναγνωρισμένο εκπαιδευτικό κέντρο από το International Society of EFT με έδρα το Τορόντο του Καναδά.

Φτιάξαμε λοιπόν το σπιτικό της συναισθηματικά Εστιασμένης Θεραπείας στην Κύπρο ούτως ώστε να βοηθησουμε ακόμη περισσοτερο κόσμο εκπαιδεύοντας ταυτόχρονα και περισσότερους ψυχολόγους στην θεραπεία αυτή από κορυφαίους καθηγητες διεθνούς βεληνεκούς και αναγνώρισης όπως οι καθηγητές Robert Elliott, Les Greenberg, Jeanne Watson και άλλοι με τους οποίους συνεργαζόμαστε.

Ξέρουμε ότι το να μοιραστείς τον πόνο σου με ένα ψυχολόγο δεν είναι απλο πράγμα. Οι άνθρωποι που ζητάτε ψυχολογική βοηθεια και επιλέγετε να βελτιώσετε την ζωή σας βρίσκεστε πάντα στο επίκεντρο όλων όσων κάνουμε και μας εμπνέετε να βελτιωνόμαστε!

Με μια υπέροχη ομάδα μπροστά και πίσω από το Ινστιτουτο, είμαι σιγουρη ότι θα προσφερει πολλά στον τομέα της Ψυχολογίας στην Κύπρο και στο εξωτερικό και θα ακούσει τον πόνο πολλών ανθρωπων!

4 Φεβρουαρίου - Παγκοσμια μερα κατα του καρκίνου. Η έρευνα μας υπογραμμίζει οτι η Ψυχολογία ενός ασθενούς έχει βρεθεί να είναι μεγάλος παράγοντας στην διαχείριση της είδησης, στην αντιμετώπιση του καρκίνου και την διαχείριση της θεραπείας και των αλλαγών που επιφέρει στην ζωή μας όπως επίσης και στην επιτυχία της θεραπείας εκεί όπου είναι δυνατόν. Ας διαβεβαιωθούμε ότι κανένας δεν παλεύει τον #καρκίνο μόνος! Κοινοποιήσε και βοήθησε μας να φτάσουμε στα αυτιά κάθε ανθρώπου ο οποίος μπορεί να νιώθει ότι τα #συναισθήματα του είναι αδικαιολόγητα. Thank you to the Emotion Focused Therapy Institute of Iran for inviting me to facilitate a training on Advanced Empathy skills with Prof Jeanne Watson. It was truly an honor! Thank you to the organisers for the wonderful warm welcome and of course to the skillful translators who made this possible. I look forward in collaborating with you at the end of month on a training on focusing skills.

Thank you to all the participants whose expertise and commitment make trainings so inspirational!

ADVANCED EMPATHY SKILLS IN EMOTION FOCUSED THERAPY (for mental health professionals & students)
During this training we worked on helping the therapists explore ways to resonate more with their client’s pain. We talked about the neuroscience of empathy and how we can use different empathic responses to deepen our work with clients during the different tasks of EFT (eg self critical splits, unfinished business etc). We got to watch videos of each empathic response before moving on to our small groups to practice each of those. During the training we had the honor to watch Prof Watson through two different live demonstrations with two of our participants.
