Every fertility journey is different. Some paths are shorter, while others are filled with uncertainty, challenges, and searching for answers - sometimes even abroad.

Today, we are celebrating Children’s Day a little differently.

Behind every embryo transfer, every treatment coordination, phone call, egg collection, laboratory procedure, or smile at the reception desk, there are people who were once children too.

Deciding on donor eggs is one of the most difficult moments in the entire treatment journey.
For most women, using their own eggs is very important.

At the same time, there are situations where the biological possibilities of the body significantly limit this effort.

With increasing age, egg quality declines to a point where further attempts do not increase the chance of pregnancy, but rather delay a solution that may be more successful.

We therefore do not see donor programmes as a “last resort”, but as one of the valid paths that can lead to the desired child.

Our goal is to openly explain all options and help patients choose the one that offers the highest chance of success in their specific situation.

In the Czech Republic, the legal upper age limit for IVF treatment is set at 49 years.

This means that treatment can be performed up to and including the day before the patient's 49th birthday.

This limit is not arbitrary. It is based on a combination of medical, ethical, and safety factors – as age increases, the risk of complications during pregnancy rises significantly, while the probability of success decreases.

However, each case is individual. An important role is played by overall health condition, hormonal profile, and the specific course of treatment.

That is why it makes sense to address fertility early – not only when biological limits begin to significantly restrict the options.

In some women with recurrent miscarriages or implantation failure, immunological incompatibility between the embryo and the woman’s immune system may play a role.

This does not mean the embryo is “bad.” It means the communication between the embryo and the immune system may not be optimal.

With HLA+, we can analyse this area and choose an individual approach – whether by selecting a suitable donor or applying targeted treatment.
