What happens after eye surgery? And what about your follow up appointments if you are travelling to us from abroad? ✈️

Your first post surgery check up always takes place at our clinic. It is included in the price of your procedure and allows us to make sure your eyes are healing exactly as they should. 💙

After that, most of our international patients continue their follow up care with their local eye specialist back home. Of course, we stay in touch. If you ever have any questions or concerns, you can always contact us and we will be happy to help.

And if you happen to visit Prague again, we would love to see you. For two years after your procedure, follow up appointments at our clinic are completely free of charge. ✨

Our goal is for you to feel confident not only during your surgery, but long afterwards as well. That is why we are here for you even after you return home.

If you have any questions about travelling for surgery or your post operative care, send us a message. We will be happy to explain everything. ☺️

☀️ 5 summer mistakes your eyes don't like. Are you making any of them? 👀

Summer can be tougher on your eyes than you might think. Most of the time, you only notice it when they start to sting, feel irritated or water. What should you watch out for?

❌ Skipping sunglasses with UV protection. UV rays can damage your eyes over time, so a good pair of sunglasses is always worth it.
❌ Swimming while wearing contact lenses. Water may contain microorganisms that can lead to unpleasant eye infections.
❌ Underestimating air conditioning. Whether you're in the car, the office or on a plane, dry air can leave your eyes feeling dry and uncomfortable. Lubricating eye drops can make a real difference.
❌ Not drinking enough water. When your body is dehydrated, your eyes often feel it too.
❌ Playing sports without protecting your eyes. Whether you're cycling, enjoying water sports or hiking in the mountains, wearing suitable protective eyewear is a good idea.

The good news? Most of these problems are easy to avoid. A few simple habits can help keep your eyes comfortable all summer long. 😊

How long should you stay in Prague for eye surgery? 👀 One of the questions we hear most often from our international patients is: "How many days do I need to stay in Prague?" The answer depends on the type of procedure, but the good news is that it is usually less time than people expect. 😊

👉 Laser eye surgery: we recommend staying for at least 2 nights.
👉 Intraocular lens surgery: a stay of 3 nights is usually ideal.
👉 Eyelid surgery: in most cases, 1 night is enough.

Many of our patients choose to stay a little longer and enjoy everything Prague has to offer. It is a wonderful opportunity to combine your treatment with a relaxing city break. ☕

An extra bonus? If you extend your stay, we can also arrange an additional post surgery check up before you travel home, giving you even greater peace of mind.

If you are planning your journey or have any questions about travelling for surgery, feel free to send us a message. We will be happy to help you plan every step. 💙

Every summer, we hear the same kinds of comments:
👉 “The sea washed my contact lens away again while I was on holiday.”
👉 “After swimming, I had no idea where I'd left my glasses.”
👉 “My contact lenses irritated my eyes for the entire flight.”

And then there is the other group of people. The ones who no longer have to deal with any of that. 😊

We are not saying that laser eye surgery will solve all of life's problems. But it is true that it can reliably eliminate many of those small everyday inconveniences. And during the summer, the difference is often even more noticeable. ☀️

If glasses or contact lenses are starting to hold you back more than you would like, book an eye examination with us and get expert advice with no obligation 👇

Have you noticed that the whites of your eyes are not as white as they should be? If the sclera starts to look yellow, it is not just a cosmetic issue. It can be a sign that something is going on inside your body. 👀

A yellow tint in the whites of the eyes is often caused by a build up of a substance called bilirubin. Bilirubin is produced when red blood cells break down and is normally processed by the liver. When the liver is not functioning properly, for example because of hepatitis, cirrhosis or blocked bile ducts, bilirubin can build up in the body and become visible. Quite literally.

What should you do? ➡️ If you notice yellowing of the whites of your eyes, or someone else's, do not put off seeing a doctor. It could be a sign of a serious medical condition.

How is it treated? 🧑🏼‍⚕️ Treatment depends on the underlying cause. It may involve medication to support liver function, dietary changes, or treatment of the condition responsible for the problem. The important thing is to address not only the yellow eye, but also what is causing it.

And prevention? ✔️ A healthy diet, avoiding excessive alcohol, wearing sunglasses with UV protection and attending regular medical check ups are all important.

👉 Have you ever come across yellowing of the whites of the eyes? Or do you have questions about changes in eye colour? Let us know in the comments or send us a message. We are happy to help. ☺️

What should you do if your eyes burn, water, or itch? 👨‍⚕️ Did you know that dry eye syndrome, a condition caused by a disruption of the tear film that protects the surface of your eyes, might be the reason?

✅ Blink more often, especially when working at a computer
✅ Avoid dusty or smoky environments
✅ Be mindful of dry air, heating, and air conditioning
✅ Use artificial tears recommended by your eye doctor
✅ Keep lubricating eye drops with you
✅ Maintain good eye hygiene
✅ Book an appointment with an eye specialist

Warm compresses or using a humidifier may also help. 👍

Do people around you get freaked out because you sleep with your eyes open? Then keep reading. 👀 Even though it may seem like a harmless or purely aesthetic thing, it can actually be a condition called lagophthalmos, which may lead to more serious eye problems. 🧐

When the eyes stay open or do not fully close during sleep, the cornea is not properly protected. This can lead to dryness, inflammation, damage to the cornea and eventually even vision problems. 😵‍💫

The cause can be related either to the eye itself or to the eyelids. Either way, if this happens to you or someone you know, especially if it has not been happening forever, it is worth visiting an eye specialist to make sure everything is okay. 👩‍⚕️

The good news is that many causes and symptoms can be treated. 🙂 Treatment may include gently taping the eyelids closed at night with medical tape, using lubricating eye drops or ointments before sleep, or in some cases a procedure that helps the eyelids close more effectively.
