Dear ETA Members and Friends,
It is with a profound sadness that we inform you that Professor Paolo Beck-Peccoz passed away on July 31 after an exceptionally aggressive illness. ETA remembers him as a great physician-scientist whose vision and pioneering initiatives established him as one of the world's leading experts in rare disorders of the hypothalamic–pituitary–thyroid axis. He built an extensive network of international collaborations that led to scientific achievements of the highest caliber.
Paolo has been a very active member of our Association, and perhaps above all, a dear friend to many members. He was always generous with his time, offering encouragement, guidance, and unwavering support to everyone who sought his advice.
Throughout his long career at the University of Milan, Paolo enthusiastically mentored several generations of endocrinologists and thyroid specialists, taking great pride in sharing not only their professional accomplishments but also many important moments of their lives.
Those who had the privilege of knowing him will remember Paolo as an original, brilliant, and unconventional person, someone who never conformed to expectations or rules. He was a charismatic figure who loved knowledge, science, and equally the joys of life and good company.
The ETA extends its condolences to his many alumni, to his family and to Anna Spada, his lifelong and beloved partner.
