EFAS - European Foot and Ankle Society EFAS aims to promote development of foot and ankle surgery and to advance education, study and research in this specialty.

EFAS will meet its goal of advancement of the science and education in foot and ankle pathology, conservative and surgical treatment offering practising physicians, residents and fellows instructional courses, seminars and symposia, international congresses as well as close collaboration and team learning programs to other medical and selected paramedical disciplines.

The General Assembly will take place on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 11:30 AM (local time) in the Plenary Room during the in Augsburg, Germany.

Please note:
- Participation is reserved for members.
- Only Full European Paying Members registered as Orthopaedic Surgeons and present at the meeting will be entitled to vote.

📢 EFAS Council Elections 2026 — Call for Nominations
In line with EFAS's Articles of Association, the Hon. Secretary is calling for nominations to replace outgoing Council members.
🗳️ 10 positions are open for election.
If nominations exceed vacancies, the election will take place at the EFAS General Assembly on Friday October 2nd, 2026 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, in Augsburg, Germany.

Having completed one term (2 years), the following members are eligible for re-election:

Developed by the EFAS European Foot & Ankle Society, this Certification Programme evaluates not only theoretical knowledge and clinical competence, but also:
✔ Continuous professional development
✔ Academic engagement
✔ Structured progression within foot and ankle surgery

Routes to Eligibility for the EFAS Examination:
1️⃣ Traditional Route – For experienced orthopaedic and trauma surgeons with established clinical practice in foot & ankle surgery.
2️⃣ Curriculum-Based Route (effective from 2026) – This pathway is particularly suited to younger orthopaedic and trauma surgeons with a dedicated interest in foot and ankle surgery.

Fully aligned with the requirements and principles of the Union Européenne des Médecins Spécialistes (UEMS). Adherence to these criteria is essential to safeguard the integrity of the EFAS Certificate as a protected quality label and to ensure its recognition at the European level.
