Let me share a little about my ongoing education in systemic work… I wanted to understand human relationships on a deeper level.
And perhaps there is something a little ironic about this.
I had already explored many of the same themes in my own life.
I had reflected on my patterns, my relationships, my reactions and the dynamics around me.
And yet… I sometimes found myself falling into the same trap again.
Knowing something intellectually does not always mean that we can see it clearly when we are inside the system.
This is one of the things that drew me to the systemic perspective.
It allows us to look at a person as a whole — not separately from the people, relationships and environments that surround them.
We are always part of different systems: our family, partnerships, friendships, professional environments, communities and cultures.
Each system develops its own patterns, rules, roles and ways of functioning.
Understanding these dynamics does not mean justifying everyone’s behaviour.
It means becoming curious about how the system works — and what happens to us within it.
What role do we take?
What patterns are repeated?
How do we communicate with each other?
What happens when someone tries to change their role?
How does one person’s behaviour influence another person’s response?
And perhaps most importantly:
What does this system teach me about myself?
For me, systemic work is not one single method or a simple set of techniques.
It has many roots and perspectives — including relationship building, communication, interaction patterns, conflict work, interventions, family dynamics and understanding the context in which people live.
As a Systemische Beraterin, I am continuing to explore these different perspectives and integrate them into the way I understand and support people.
Because sometimes the most important shift is not discovering what is wrong with us.
It is learning to see the whole picture.
And from there, perhaps, seeing ourselves with a little more clarity. 🌿
This is why systemic work has become such an important part of my professional journey.
