For decades, intersex children underwent irreversible surgeries to make their bodies conform to society’s expectations of male and female, often without medical necessity or their own consent.

The consequences of these decisions could last a lifetime.

Today, we share this powerful fragment from the Dutch documentary Kiezen, snijden, zwijgen to raise awareness about this often overlooked chapter in medical history.

As medical professionals, we believe that every individual deserves bodily autonomy, informed consent, and the right to be heard.

Because medical care should respect the person, not simply conform to society’s expectations.

To my great surprise, I was honored last Friday, April 25, in Antwerp with the Royal Decoration of Officer in the Order of Orange-Nassau.

The ceremony took place in an intimate setting at the Ambassador’s Residence and was conducted by Consul General Karen van Stegeren.
I am deeply moved by this honor and grateful for the beautiful words, the warm presence of loved ones, and the special atmosphere of the day.

With amazement, pride, and emotion, I look back on a moment I will never forget.’

Onze Dr. Frans Noorman van der Dussen is afgelopen vrijdag benoemd tot Officier in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau.

Tot mijn grote verrassing ben ik afgelopen vrijdag 25 april in Antwerpen onderscheiden met de Koninklijke Onderscheiding tot Officier in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau.

De uitreiking vond plaats in besloten kring, in de Residentie van de Ambassadeur, en werd verricht door consul-generaal Karen van Stegeren.
Ik ben diep geraakt door deze eer en dankbaar voor de mooie woorden, de warme aanwezigheid van dierbaren en de bijzondere sfeer van deze dag.

Met verwondering, trots en ontroering kijk ik terug op een moment dat ik nooit zal vergeten.’

After her dedication as a full-time electrologist, hair transplant assistant and social media manager, Kiona is taking on a new challenge!

🎉 Starting in February, she will support Dr. Oelbrandt as a personal assistant and guide patients from start to finish in their journey. 💼❤️

No worries, Kiona will still remain a familiar face in our 2pass Clinic as well as be found in the Singelberg Clinic on certain days.
