Am IOZK sind wir bestrebt, Ihr Leben als Krebspatient zu verlängern und Ihnen eine schonende Therapie zu bieten.

At the IOZK, we strive to extend your life as a cancer patient and to offer you a therapy without side effects. Unsere Ärzte und Wissenschaftler beschäftigen sich bereits seit 1985 mit der Rolle des Immunsystems und wie die körpereigenen Abwehrkräfte gegen Krebs mobilisiert werden können. Erstmalig in Europa gelang es dem IOZK, die Herstellungserlaubnis für einen Patienten-eigenen Tumorimpfstoff in Kombination mit Viren zu erhalten, gemäß dem Arzneimittelgesetz für neuartige Therapien.

During the World Cancer Series, Arnd Slegers from the IOZK took part in the “Enhancing Uptake of Innovation for Better Outcomes” panel.

Slegers pleads for a system that supports novel cancer therapies. This could encourage development and, more importantly, grant more patients access to promising treatments. He envisions a network of small translational centres, enabling a complimentary pathway to gather real world data and produce knowledge for future cancer research.

Several speakers emphasized personalized and individualized treatments are the hope for the future in cancer therapy - we couldn’t agree more!

🌍 World Immunology Day
World immunology day is a date for scientist to share their growing knowledge on the immune system in an accessible way. At IOZK, our research focuses on harnessing the power of the immune system. Our team has developed methods to train specialised T cells in the laboratory to recognise Cytomegalovirus (CMV) and target tumour-associated cells.
This work highlights the important role of immunology in advancing innovative approaches in cancer research.

Der Tag der Immunologie ist für Wissenschaftler ein Anlass, ihr stetig wachsendes Wissen über das Immunsystem verständlich weiterzugeben. Am IOZK forschen wir nach stets neuen Möglichkeiten, die Krafft des Immunsystems zu nutzen. Unser Team hat eine Methode entwickelt, spezialisierte T-Zellen im Labor zu trainieren, um das Zytomegalievirus (CMV) zu erkennen und damit assoziierte Tumorzellen gezielt anzugreifen.
