Humming bee breath is a beautiful practice that increases the production of nitric oxide by 15X as much as general nasal breathing. This reduces blood pressure and enhances the flow of oxygen to the tissues, including to the brain.

If you want to feel more alert, improve your mental acuity, reduce blood pressure, and feel overly more calm, this is a great practice for you. 🥰

As terrifying as it is to put ourselves “out there” and show all sides of our human experience (the good, the bad, and the ugly)… it is so needed.

We find resonance in the shared experience of being human, and that includes when we have struggles that we endure or challenges we face. More so, in fact. Because that’s when we need to see that it’s not only us who goes through dark times.

Just by being more honest about my own journey has resulted in the most beautiful conversations and connecting points.

As a breath coach, admitting to struggle can feel like admitting defeat, but actually it’s admitting to our humanness. It’s admitting to normality. It’s admitting to being perfectly imperfect, which we all are.

I’m going to be sharing more of my journey over time, because I see how helpful it can be to reflect back to you. I hope you’ll stay for the ride. 💛

Do less to do more.
It sounds counterintuitive, but sometimes it’s exactly what your nervous system needs. What you need!

I’m speaking from my own experience this week. It wasn’t the first time I had to down tools and just STOP, and it won’t be the last time. One day I’d like to live a life where I don’t get to that point, but for now, being able to listen to my body and discern what it needs is key, it’s enough, and it’s a beautiful thing.

If you want to develop your self-awareness and learn about your body, your nervous system, and how best to support it, I’d love to work with you.

When things get tough, I tend to not share on socials and rather tend to my wounds in private. I feel like that’s pretty natural and normal. But I am trying to build something authentic here with my breathwork and whole human coaching business, so I feel like I need to be a little more honest.

I thought I should come on here today and share because the last two days have been s**t. I have been completely spent and at my max capacity. This is real. This is life.

I finished work early today, got in the shower, washed my hair, and I binged Ted Lasso all afternoon because that’s what I needed. I meditated this morning, I did some breathwork, but actually what I really needed was the sofa, comfy clothes, and Ted Lasso.

This is healing. This is truth. This is listening to my body and tapping out for the day, and that’s just as important as breathwork and meditation. This is balance.

PS: I feel SO MUCH better after taking time off to vegetate all afternoon.

Couldn’t resist jumping on the trend to showcase a day in the life of my nervous system’s dreams. 😜✨

Some days, I absolutely get it right, and I feel so in my flow. Completely present and in total alignment. Free. Content. Bursting with life.

Some days, I’m so cranked up on trying to manage “all the things” that I become so far removed from myself, I am barely able to recount how I got there.

It is balance.
It is being human.

But if I’m to think of the one thing that can differentiate between version one or version two of these examples, it is PRESENCE.

Being present in the s**tstorm is as valuable as being present to the sunset. More so in terms of what you can learn about yourself. It’s one thing you can always actively bring yourself back to, and you’ll still find yourself wandering away from it!
Speaking for myself. 😬

But, like a muscle, it can be developed and cultivated. Using the breath is the easiest route to presence IMO.
Check out the reel I posted with a simple breath awareness practice. It will help you get present right now. Give it a go.

There is so much of your health and wellbeing that is within your control when you understand what’s happening in your body. 🫁🫀🧠

I’ve put together a free, 25-minute masterclass that goes into the basics of what’s happening in your body under stress (link in bio to sign up).

Building this awareness will develop the relationship you have with your breath and body. This can help you stay in the driving seat of your wellbeing.

🫁You’ll be able to recognise changes in your breath
🫀You’ll be able to notice changes in your heart rate
🧠You’ll start to notice the changes in your nervous system
🫶🏽You’ll learn how to start responding more intently to these changes and to the world around you

You can access the masterclass via the link in my bio. You’ll be signed up to my email list as a result, but you are free to unsubscribe at any time. 💋

Catching the sunrise boosts alertness, can help stabilise your mood for the day, and also helps regulate your sleep. And it just makes you feel good! 😊☀️

Here’s the science behind it in simple terms:

☀️Sunlight in your eyes 30-60 minutes after waking triggers a healthy release of hormones to get you going for the day.
☀️Your sleep hormone is toned down, helping set your body’s internal clock.
☀️This signals to your brain to release sleep hormones again later in the day to help you wind down and fall asleep.

So, not only is your body getting primed for the day ahead, but you’re also setting the stage for a good night’s sleep later. It’s such a beautiful and intelligent system when it’s enabled to work in the way it’s designed to. 💛

If you struggle to sleep, it will be having a knock-on effect on all elements of your health and wellbeing: physical performance, mental capacity, emotional stability.

So, go and catch the sunrise! Or at least get outside first thing in the morning and take in your garden or the world around you.

It’s not only an epic way to start the day, but you can also rest in the knowledge that your body is benefitting in so many ways too.

PS: if there’s no morning sunlight, flip an artificial light on when you wake up instead. Go outside anyway when it’s cloudy. It’s also the habit of waking up, getting up, becoming active that has an impact to your natural biorhythms.
