Happy Guru Purnima 💚🕉️
This Full Moon is dedicated to honoring our spiritual teachers and guides in life. 💚
The understanding of a Guru goes far beyond that of an ordinary teacher. A Guru is a being who shows us the way from spiritual darkness to spiritual light, from despair to inspiration, from misunderstanding to realization, and from feeling separate to experiencing our connection with the universe.
Many things can serve as Gurus in our lives. Sometimes it is a person we meet unexpectedly who reveals something new about ourselves. Sometimes it is nature, silence, or sound. And sometimes, it is life itself.
In the yogic tradition, a Guru is someone who has walked the spiritual path for many years and has gained the wisdom and experience to guide others. A Guru cannot walk the path for us, but can point us in the right direction and help us avoid unnecessary detours. Ultimately, each of us must walk the path ourselves. Yet through sincere practice and deep devotion to a true Guru, one may experience the Guru’s grace in the form of profound inner peace.
The Sadguru is the true Guru who resides within each of us, in the spiritual heart. We all carry this inner guide and have the potential to connect with it. Yet this connection is not always easy, and we often mistake the voice of our ego for this pure, untouched inner wisdom. The same challenge exists with an external Guru: if we choose a teacher based on our ego rather than discernment, that teacher may simply reflect our own illusions.
On this sacred day, we offer our deepest gratitude to our beloved Guru, Sri Dharma Mittra, and to the great masters who have inspired and keep inspiring us , through different forms , throughout our spiritual journey. We also bow with gratitude to all the teachers who have touched our lives over the years, and to our students and friends, through whom we continue to learn, grow, and recognize ourselves.
Happy Guru Purnima. May the light of the Guru within and around you always guide your path. 🙏💚🕉️
