When the head becomes the Summit, the World becomes a Darshana

In Shīrṣāsana,
the body rises from the Earth towards the Summit,
Only to realise that Balance requires grounding

In Sanskrit,

śīrṣa means the head—
the highest point of the body,
the summit.

Āsana is a steady, established state.

Śīrṣāsana invites us to reverse our usual perspective.

When the head becomes the foundation,
the body rises,
and so does awareness.

Like every summit,
it is not reached through haste,
but through patience, discipline, and steady practice.

The posture asks for strength,
but rewards stillness.

It asks for courage,
but teaches humility.

Sometimes the highest point we reach
is not above us—

it is within us.

Not everything that shines reveals…
Sometimes the brightest things also conceal.

In this mantra from the Īśā Upaniṣad, the seeker addresses the Sun not to receive more light, but to see beyond it.

“The face of Truth is concealed by a golden covering.”

For the removal of whatever stands between the seeker and the Truth (Sat).

May we cultivate Satyadharma - a life aligned with Truth - and may that alignment grant us the vision to behold what truly is.

Yoga is not merely flexibility of the body.
It is the expansion of concern. It is the very expansion of the Self to the Universe Itself.

This timeless prayer does not ask for personal success, but universal wellbeing.

May all be happy.
May all be free from illness.
May all witness the auspicious.
May none partake in suffering.

Not every force in life can be seen.
But then… everything seen moves because of something unseen.

The yogic traditions called that subtle intelligence Prāṇa - not merely breath, but the life-force that animates body, mind, and existence itself.

This mantra from the Praśna Upaniṣad reminds us that all life rests under the governance of Prāṇa.

Like a mother protects her children, may that sustaining force protect, nourish, and guide us toward prosperity and wisdom.

Today, we begin a new journey.

The Mantra Series — illuminating the inner science behind the timeless words of Yoga.

Not every posture feels graceful.

Some ask you to face hesitation.

In Sanskrit:

kāka — crow
āsana — a steady, established state.

The crow is not admired for beauty.

It survives.

It observes.
It waits.
It moves only when it must.

Kākāsana carries that same quality.

There is no comfort here.

The body leans forward,
the ground begins to disappear,
and instinct resists.

But the posture does not ask for force.

It asks for something more difficult:

to move forward despite uncertainty.

In that moment,
balance is not just physical.

It is psychological.

In that union of body, mind and the Universe is Yoga.

To trust the hands.
To trust the shift.
To trust that you will not fall —
or that falling is part of learning to rise.

This is where lightness begins.

Not in ease,
but in overcoming resistance.

Āsana Series continues...

After learning to root like a Tree (vṛkṣāsana) and remain undisturbed like a Lotus (padmāsana)…
we begin to test that balance…

In Sanskrit:

utthita — extended
hasta — hand
pāda aṅguṣṭha — foot’s the big toe
āsana — a steady, established state.

Utthita Hasta Pāda Aṅguṣṭhāsana
is not just about lifting the leg.

It is about staying centered
as the body begins to extend.

The form may reach outward,
but balance is never found at the edges.

It remains at the center.

In practice,
this posture teaches us something subtle:

to expand,
without losing ourselves.
