🧫 PAP Smear: Conventional vs. Liquid-Based Cytology

In cervical cytology, both the conventional Pap smear and liquid-based cytology (LBC) are well-established and guideline-approved methods.

🔬 While the conventional Pap is prepared directly on a glass slide, LBC allows for standardized thin-layer preparation and additional testing (e.g. HPV) from the same sample.

👉 The optimal method depends on laboratory workflow, infrastructure, and diagnostic needs.
