👶 Nouvelle formation postgraduée à l’IAO Mont-Saint-Guibert

L’IAO lance un nouveau programme francophone consacré à l’ostéopathie chez les enfants de 0 à 3 ans.

Cette formation postgraduée mène au Diplôme en Ostéopathie Pédiatrique (DOP) et se déroulera sur notre campus de Mont-Saint-Guibert, sous la coordination de Alissa Picchioni, Head of Paediatrics, et Sven Onclinx, Paediatric Programme Coordinator MSG.

Le programme comprend 7 modules répartis sur 18 mois et associe théorie, raisonnement clinique et pratique manuelle.

Parmi les thèmes abordés :
• développement moteur et réflexes
• sécurité et raisonnement clinique
• alimentation et digestion
• troubles musculo-squelettiques et asymétries
• développement oro-facial, voies respiratoires et immunité
• régulation, sommeil et santé mentale du nourrisson
• intégration et synthèse clinique

L’approche est centrée sur des soins sûrs, adaptés au développement de l’enfant et intégrés dans une vision interdisciplinaire.

Beyond Old Versus New Osteopathy

Yourik Van Overloop and Grégoire Lason wrote a new article addressing a recurring question in osteopathy: should we choose between “old” biomechanical models and a “new”, evidence-based approach?

Their answer is more nuanced.

The article examines what the current scientific literature says about topics such as Fryette’s laws, coupled spinal motion, segmental specificity, HVLA and cavitation. Traditional models should not be treated uncritically as biological laws, but neither should they simply be dismissed as obsolete.

For the authors, this is above all an educational issue: students should learn how to use biomechanical models while also understanding where scientific certainty ends. Anatomical precision, patient safety, critical thinking and scientific humility can go hand in hand.

What Current Evidence Tells Us About Fryette, Segmental Specificity and HVLA

Wichtige Nachrichten aus der Schweiz

Das Schweizer Bundesgericht hat in einem Fall entschieden, der einen Osteopathen betrifft, der 2017 das IAO Diploma in Osteopathy in Belgien erworben und anschließend 2022 einen Master of Science in Osteopathy der Buckinghamshire New University (BNU) abgeschlossen hat.

Laut Medinside stellte das Bundesgericht fest, dass die erforderliche Gleichwertigkeitsprüfung der belgischen Qualifikation nicht durchgeführt worden war. Auch der britische Masterabschluss hätte geprüft werden müssen, um festzustellen, ob eine Anerkennung als Drittstaatendiplom möglich ist oder ob Ausgleichsmaßnahmen in Betracht gezogen werden können.

Dies ist eine wichtige Entwicklung in der Diskussion über die Anerkennung ausländischer osteopathischer Qualifikationen in der Schweiz.

Die IAO begrüßt jede Entwicklung, die zu einer transparenten, fairen und inhaltlich fundierten Beurteilung osteopathischer Qualifikationen beiträgt, und wird die weiteren Entwicklungen in der Schweiz aufmerksam verfolgen.

🎓 Une première à l’IAO Mont-Saint-Guibert !

Hier s’est achevé le premier module du programme de spécialisation en Uro-Gynécologie-Obstétrique (UGO) et Santé de la Femme, sous la direction de Nathalie Camirand, D.O.

Une première également pour notre campus de Mont-Saint-Guibert : il s’agit du premier programme de spécialisation de longue durée organisé sur ce site.

Composé de sept modules, le programme UGO propose aux ostéopathes un parcours approfondi consacré à la santé de la femme, abordant notamment les dimensions hormonales, uro-gynécologiques, pelviennes, obstétricales et postpartum.

Ce premier module, consacré aux dysfonctions endocriniennes et à la santé hormonale, marque le début de plusieurs mois d’apprentissage, d’échanges cliniques et de développement professionnel.

Merci à Nathalie Camirand, à toute l’équipe pédagogique et aux participants de cette première cohorte pour leur confiance, leur enthousiasme et leur engagement.

Et à en juger par les sourires sur les photos, ce premier module fut aussi un très beau moment de partage ! 😊

🎓 A very special day at Buckinghamshire New University!

Today, our IAO graduates celebrated an important milestone: receiving their Master of Science in Osteopathy degree from Buckinghamshire New University.

What a wonderful moment after years of study, dedication, perseverance and hard work. Seeing our graduates together at BNU — and those graduation caps flying through the air — says it all! 🎓

A huge congratulations to every one of them. We are incredibly proud of what you have achieved.

Our sincere thanks also go to the entire IAO teaching staff, whose commitment and guidance accompanied our students throughout their academic journey.

And a special thank you to our partner tutors Mara Popescu and Abid Taufique, our Relationship Manager Jeeva Ann Jacob, and to Sarah Williams and Jermaine Ravalier for their inspiring words during the ceremony.

🎓 Een nieuwe start na de IAO Summer School

Vijf intensieve dagen van leren, oefenen en ervaringen uitwisselen: de IAO Summer School bood voormalige Sutherland-studenten een brug naar het vervolg van hun opleiding.

Het programma bereidde hen voor op hun volgende stap: de laatste opleidingsfase of het mastertraject in de osteopathie. Viscerale, pariëtale en craniale osteopathie stonden daarbij centraal.

Dank aan onze docenten Alexander Deprez, Koen Vandebriel, Charlotte Delmouzée en Yourik Van Overloop voor hun lessen en inzet.

Grégoire Lason kwam de studenten hartelijk verwelkomen. We waarderen ook bijzonder de inzet van Jesse van Beelen, die de verbinding tussen deze studenten en de IAO hielp leggen, en van ons team, dat het programma organiseerde en iedereen verwelkomde.

Voor ons betekent onderwijs ook studenten ondersteunen wanneer hun traject onverwacht verandert. We zijn blij dat we samen verder kunnen bouwen.
