We've created an introductory video to pass on the lessons learned from our frontline healthcare colleagues.
I am honored to know that even in a chaotic and darkest time, there was remarkable ingenuity and solidarity in mutual support, and feel deeply grateful to have been a part of this project - helping bridge frontline knowledge and experience to a wider audience. 📢 論文公開のお知らせ📢 English follows.
コロナ下、感染対応に奔走する医療者を支えるために― 現場ではどんな支援が多くなされ、また対象別にはどんな支援が特に多く提供されていたのか。全国29都道府県・39医療施設から集まった615の職員支援活動を国際的な分類枠組みで整理し、その全体像を定量的にマッピングしました。
感染症流行や原子力事故など、現場で働く支援者のメンタルが過酷な状況はきっとこれからもやってくると思うので、未来の支援者がコロナで得た教訓からヒントを得るための１資料となればと願っています。

📢 New Publication 📢
It took four years to finalise the lessons learned and publication.
We mapped a total of 615 staff support activities collected from 39 medical across Japan nationwide, using the IASC MHPSS 4Ws framework to quantitatively capture the full picture: what types of support support were most commonly provided, and what was prioritized for specific target groups.
We hope this paper can serve as a resource for future responders to draw on the lessons learned during COVID-19 pandemic.

What surprising news!! A Kenyan gentleman sitting next to me on my returning flight from Europe won the gold in the 10,000m at the 2025 Deaflympics, Tokyo. Congratulations, Ian Wambui Kahinga👏👏👏 I am so surprised and happy to hear your great achievement❤️

Ian Kahinga Wambui won a gold medal as David Kipkogei settled for silver.

「子どもを真ん中においた街づくりを」－南砺市市長さんがよくおっしゃられていること。その魅力が人を引き付けるんでしょうか。かつてないほどいろいろな団体が集まり、コラボして、災害時の子どもの居場所支援について議論・研修をしました。この小さな取り組みが大きな輪に育ちますように。

Coordinated a disaster preparedness training on creating safe spaces for children during emergencies together with World Vision Japan, Save the Children Janan, and NPOs specialized in child friendly spaces. I am honored to see such resource-rich organizations collaboratively work for an affected community eager to strengthen its response capacity. A special guest speaker who went through disaster brought a strong sense of reality to the training!!

This week the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement MHPSS Hub has hosted a workshop on in in Copenhagen. I am very grateful to be part of the interesting exchanges and peer learning with 11 RC National Societies. Thank you so much our facilitators, Anna Goloktionova and Shona Whitton, for hosting and creating such a safe learing space for us.

Whenever I visit Denmark, I can't stop taking a picture of the smiley electric outlets. They are so cute!!❤

【語り部セミナー】
あれから10年。一年かけて準備してきた御嶽山噴火災害の語り部セミナーをやっと開催することができました。

プロジェクトを進めるにあたり当時の現場支援者にたくさんインタビューさせていただきました。災害伝承の話題ではよく「風化」という課題意識が指摘されますが、十分に事実や教訓が共有された上で時の流れでそれらの記憶が薄れていくならまだしも、日の目をあびることも共有されることもなかったエピソードがたくさんあるのだということを感じさせられました。

人道的な支援が人間を中心としたアプローチであり続けられるように、小さな当事者のナラティブにこれからも耳を傾けていきたいと思います。話題提供して下さった皆様、お疲れ様＆ありがとうございました！！！
