Hablar claro no crea reciprocidad. | Clear communication cannot create reciprocity.

Healthy communication matters, but it cannot create mutuality where there is no willingness to participate.

When the same conversation keeps happening, it is easy to assume you still have not explained yourself well enough. So you soften your tone, organize your thoughts more carefully, and try to make your needs impossible to misunderstand.

But sometimes, the other person does understand. They simply may not have the capacity, desire, or willingness to respond in the way the relationship requires.

That is why communication should not be measured only by how clearly you speak. Pay attention to what happens afterward. Is there curiosity? Accountability? Consistent effort? Do reassuring words lead to meaningful change?

You can take responsibility for how you express yourself without taking responsibility for the entire relationship.

Sometimes you do not need better words. You need to accept what the response has already shown you.

No quiero estar a solas | I don’t want to be alone

No siempre podemos eliminarlos.

Sometimes we remain in a relationship not because it is fulfilling, but because ending it would force us to face loneliness, grief and an unfamiliar future.

The relationship may no longer make us happy, yet it still provides structure: a routine, an identity, an imagined future and the certainty of knowing what to expect. Familiar dissatisfaction can feel safer than an unknown life.

Fear then changes the question. Instead of asking, “Do I genuinely want this relationship?” we begin asking, “What if nobody else comes?” “What if I regret leaving?” or “What if this was my only opportunity?”

At that point, we are no longer evaluating the relationship on its actual quality. We are using it to regulate our fear of what might happen without it.

This is what makes the decision so difficult: there is no option that guarantees freedom from pain. Leaving may bring grief and uncertainty. Staying may require us to continue tolerating dissatisfaction, self-abandonment or emotional loneliness.

Fear deserves to be acknowledged, but its intensity does not make it a reliable decision-maker.

A more revealing question is: If I knew I would not be alone forever, would I still choose this relationship?

¡Al rescate! | To the rescue!

Growing up around chaos can teach us that safety comes from anticipating problems, regulating other people’s emotions and preventing things from falling apart.

When that role follows us into the workplace, it may look like taking responsibility for problems we did not create, working beyond our role, responding to every crisis or feeling unable to step back when someone else is struggling.

This is often praised as commitment. The workplace rewards our availability, and we begin to build an identity around being the person who can “handle anything.” Being indispensable then becomes more than a professional strength: it becomes a source of worth and emotional security.

But overfunctioning does not repair a dysfunctional system. It often allows that system to continue functioning without addressing its poor boundaries, unequal distribution of labor or constant dependence on urgency.

There is a difference between contributing because we choose to and rescuing because we cannot tolerate what might happen if we stop.

Being capable of carrying everything does not make everything ours to carry.

Overworking does not always feel like overworking.

It may look like answering one email before bed, eating lunch at your desk, or accepting another task because “it won’t take long.” At first, you can handle it. Since you keep getting everything done, you may not notice what it is costing you.

But every small exception becomes an energy leak. Eventually, you have less patience, trouble concentrating, and little energy left for your life outside of work. Rest alone no longer feels like enough.

Maybe you do not need to become more productive. Maybe you need to take on less and face the fear of disappointing someone, seeming less committed, or missing an opportunity.

Therapy can be a space to understand why setting boundaries feels so difficult and begin building a more sustainable relationship with work 💜

| Don’t lose yourself in the name of love.

We often think that loving someone deeply means being willing to sacrifice almost anything to keep the relationship.

So we slowly adapt.

We change our routines to fit theirs. We make ourselves smaller to avoid conflict. We become more valuable because of what we do rather than who we are. We stop enforcing boundaries because we’re afraid of what saying “no” might cost us.

None of these changes usually happen overnight. They happen through small adjustments that accumulate over time.

And one day, if the relationship ends, we don’t just grieve the person—we realize we’ve also lost touch with ourselves.

That’s why it’s worth asking a few uncomfortable questions:

• How much of your life have you changed to make room for someone else?
• Does your value in the relationship come more from what you do than who you are?
• When was the last time you set a boundary and actually kept it?
• How much resentment have you been carrying?
• If this relationship ended tomorrow, would you still know who you are?

Love and self-abandonment can look surprisingly similar from the outside.

The difference is whether you still recognize yourself while you’re loving someone else.

Las conversaciones cambian culturas. | Conversations shape culture.

Over the past two weeks, I had the opportunity to facilitate corporate wellness workshops for teams in the finance and healthcare sectors.

Together, we explored topics such as burnout prevention, self-awareness, personal responsibility, and the role these play in building healthier workplaces.

I’m grateful to both organizations for creating space for these conversations and for trusting me to be part of them.

The feedback shared in this carousel is a reminder that meaningful change often begins with a simple conversation—one that helps people better understand themselves and take intentional steps toward their well-being.

| You don’t need to stop looking back. You just need to change how you look back.

We often think we’re “processing” an experience simply because we keep replaying it in our minds.

But not all reflection leads to growth.

There’s a big difference between looking back to learn and looking back to punish yourself.

Learning sounds like:
• What was my role?
• What patterns am I noticing?
• What do I want to do differently next time?

Self-punishment sounds like:
“I should have done better.”
“It was all my fault.”
“I’ll never find love.”
“I’m not worthy of being loved.”

One inner dialogue helps you take responsibility, gain insight, and make better decisions moving forward.

The other only reinforces the belief that you weren’t enough.

The next time you catch yourself replaying the past, ask yourself:

Am I learning from this… or am I using it as another way to be hard on myself?

The City College of New York.

|| Not every thought about yourself is a fact.

One of the most overlooked aspects of impostor syndrome is that it often survives in the presence of evidence.

The evidence is there:
the qualifications,
the experience,
the accomplishments,
the positive feedback.

Yet the mind keeps finding ways to explain it away.

“It was luck.”
“The standards were low.”
“Anyone could have done it.”
“They don’t know the real me.”

Over time, the problem becomes less about competence and more about interpretation.

The same achievement that would convince someone else can feel insignificant when viewed through the lens of perfectionism.

That is why overcoming impostor syndrome is not simply about becoming more confident.

It is about learning to evaluate yourself with the same fairness, nuance and objectivity that you would offer to someone you respect.
