The WPA ECP Section held its webinar, “ECPs Across Regions: Realities, Needs and Opportunities,” during which our Zonal Assistant Liaison Officers (ZALOs) presented their analyses of the realities, needs and opportunities within their respective zones.
Following the insightful discussion with a wider audience, the ZALOs will now work to increase the visibility of their findings and develop strategic plans for their zones for the next two years.

Day 4, and the final day of the World Congress of Psychiatry 2026.

We started with the Three-Minute Competition: three minutes, diverse topics, and plenty of energy. Congratulations to all the participants and winners!

Throughout WCP 2026, early career psychiatrists presented their work across poster sessions and oral communications, while also taking on important roles chairing sessions. We want to congratulate all our ECP presenters and chairs for their outstanding contributions to the scientific programme.

The Congress came to a close with a strong recognition of the role of the next generation in psychiatry. Around 25% of WCP 2026 participants were early career psychiatrists, highlighting their important contributions to the Congress and the WPA community.

We were also proud to celebrate the Poster Awards, a new initiative recognizing outstanding work by trainees and early career psychiatrists from around the world. Congratulations to all the awardees, including those whose awards were accepted on their behalf by colleagues.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in Stockholm and followed our journey throughout these four days.

See you in Colombia for the World Congress of Psychiatry 2027!

Day 3 at WCP 2026!

We started the day with our Difficult Cases Session on trauma and stress related disorders, with insights from our expert Dr Senil Rege.

Next came the WPA Three-Minute Competition, bringing together early career psychiatrists presenting a fascinating diversity of topics in just three minutes. Congratulations to all the participants and winners!

The Women’s Mental Health in the Workplace symposium brought important insights, from policy to practice, and highlighted the need for meaningful change.

We ended the day with our final ECP Leadership Revolve Hub. We loved meeting so many of you throughout this new initiative, hearing your ideas, and connecting with ECPs from around the world.

One more day to go!

Day 2 at WCP2026 was packed from start to finish!

We started with a Difficult Cases session on neurodevelopmental disorders with expert Dr Kerim Munir, followed by the Medical Students Session organized by the WPA Medical Students Special Interest Group and led by Prof. Waqar Azeem and Prof. Howard Liu.

Our WPA Early Career Psychiatrists Section Meeting gave us the chance to meet our members, reflect on what we have achieved, discuss upcoming projects and opportunities, and celebrate our WPA ECP Award winners.

Then came the WPA Quiz, bringing plenty of energy and friendly competition!

Throughout the day, our ECP Reporting Team was also out across the Congress, following your presentations, visiting ECP posters, and capturing your work and experiences.

Day 1 of The World Congress of Psychiatry is a wrap!

We started with the Opening Ceremony and celebrated the new WPA Fellowship winners. Congratulations to all!

Our WPA Quiz team had their final rehearsals. Join us tomorrow for a fun session and put your psychiatry knowledge to the test.

At the World Psychiatry Journal Club, in collaboration with the WPA Education in Psychiatry Section, we learned more about critical appraisal and discussed how to approach and evaluate a scientific paper.

The WPA ECP Section and ISAM-NExT joint symposium, “From Digital Well-Being to Digital Distress: The Boundaries of the Spectrum of Digital Addictions,” explored digital wellbeing and the different ways digital use can move towards distress and problematic use.

We finished the day with the ECP Leadership Hub meeting, a chance to reconnect and discuss ideas in person!
