I named her Sabrina. In Arabic Sabri means patience. And we needed a lot of patience to catch this girl for spaying. Now Sabrina has been spayed and she is recovering from the surgery. It was a very hot day today and for sure this must be hard on her. Get well soon, dear Sabrina. 💜🍀

This is Femke with her grandson Tarzan. Baladi dogs do not differ from home dogs. Today Femke found a jogging trouser among the trash. She took it not to stay warm but just for some comfort It is as heartwarming as it is heartbreaking.💟💔

Today I saw this dog on the road. She is not one of the dogs that I am feeding daily but whenever I see her I give her and her friends good. But today I saw she was not in the best condition. She lost weight and she had some wounds in her face. Later today I returned and cleaned the wounds with IV fluids and betadine and put antibiotic creme. She was so calm and let me do what was needed. This shows how amazing baladi dogs are. Just waiting for some mercy. 💟

Today we released Florence and Rafah in the streets after their spaying operation. Before they leave we make a last inspection on the stitches. They stayed a week in aftercare and this is usually more than enough for the healing. Because they go back in the streets we give it some more time. Everything looked fine and we could leave the clinic. It is only a two minutes drive with the tricycle so before they actually could understand what was happening they were already back in their safe spots among friends and family.

Tarzan and Mercy were very happy to see their mommy. Florence got a warm welcome from the pack.

Rafah was happy to see her sisters Sila and Rumi.

Both dogs got a Rabies vaccination and ear tags in a bright colour.

They don't understand what this was all about but we know. No more litters!! Less suffering!!

Thanks Ahmed and Mohamed for the smooth release.

Yesterday puppy Mercy had her second combi vaccination and is now fully vaccinated. In the picture you can see her with one of her friends, Sila. The mother of Mercy is currently in the clinic where she had her spaying operation recently. It is so nice to see how the pack members are taking care of the little ones.

Thanks to Ahmed who is always helping me with the outdoor medical care.

If I walk on the sand road heading to the sandpile pack Saphir is the first one spotting me and when he sees me he is taking a spurt with joy. While he is running he is dancing and the pack follows him. First he was still on alert not knowing if he could show off but they just take him as he is, a total Goofy. It's funny that they love him so much since he is eating all their food. He is just irresistible, licking my hands and jumping on me and then diving in my trolley looking up to me asking "what's for dinner"?. He can't wait and while I am refilling their water bowl he tries to steal food from the trolley. I serve the food on plates made of dryfood bags. Once I put the food Saphir is running wildly from plate to plate and it is hard to refill all the plates quickly. The intake of his food is faster than my hands. My last clients are Samara and her friend on the bridge, the blind cat and a pack of 6 dogs I pass on my way back home. Saphir is insatiable and follows me on the bridge where he tries to steal the food of Samara. But he knows that he can't go further. The other pack doesn't accept intruders. While I am feeding the last six dogs a man on a motorbike stops and looks at the eating dogs. He puts his thumb up and thank me for feeding the dogs. That was a really nice end of my feeding round.

Every night I am feeding around 70 stray dogs and some cats. This is huge and needs a lot of money. If you could see these happy, healthy well fed dogs in a harsh environment you would understand that it's more than worth it. Please help me to continue with my mission. 🐕💗

It turns out that Saphir, the dog with mange, is a complete sweetheart. The pack took him in and they let him eat as much as he wants. Every day these lovely creatures surprise me with yet another smart or sweet thing.

Saphir is a happy dog now, running up to me with a wagging tail. He is eating very well, I could manage to put water in front of a car wash where Saphir even sleeps on a blanket. But most important he has friends and he belongs. And that all in such a short time. I found him in a terrible condition, in fear and emaciated only ten days ago. 💚🍀
