Learning Resource Center (LRC)

Learning Resource Center (LRC) We provide assessments, consultations, specialized therapies, and in-service training for schools and/or parents. Assessments
2. Specialized Services.

The Learning Resource Center (LRC) was chartered September 1996, and since then, has been providing adequate diagnostic and consultative services for children of all ages who have a broad range of learning difficulties, developmental disorders and/or behavior problems. We also provide support to families in accepting and dealing with their child's difficulties. We believe that an assessment or tre

atment plan is only as good as the diagnosis on which it is based; therefore, our philosophy is to provide services based on an interdisciplinary approach in treatment tailored to the individual needs of each child. Procedures for Services
================
Step 1: Application
Upon contact, parents receive an application package relevant to the child's age, and consisting of a questionnaire and forms to gather background and diagnostic information. Parents should complete the questionnaire and attach relevant forms and/or reports and return them to the LRC in order to be given an appointment. Step 2: Initial Intake Interview
Applications are presented to the Professional Clinical Committee and assigned to a LRC specialist. The LRC Assessment Services’ Coordinator contacts the parents to schedule an initial intake interview. With the parents' help and information provided, the LRC specialist determines the specific areas in which the child is experiencing difficulties. The Professional Clinical Committee then discusses the information from the initial interview and the child is then referred for:
1. Medical &/or Para- Medical consultation, or
3. Parents receive a written Initial Intake Report with our recommendations. Step 3: Assessments
The LRC specialist(s), in agreement with the parents/guardians, schedule an assessment for the child, after which, the child may be referred either:
1. to further assessment(s),
2. to specialized services, or
3. for discharge, according to the specialist(s) findings. All Assessments are followed by a Parent Conference Meeting, and later parents are given a Written Report including findings and recommendations. Step 4: Specialized Services/Consultations
If it is decided and agreed between the parents and the specialists, the child may be referred to specialized services or consultation in one or more areas at the LRC. All information regarding the children, whether written or given verbally, is strictly confidential and would not be released to any person or agency without the parents’ prior written consent. Services' Charges
===========
The charges vary depending upon the specific service. Our Staff
=======
Some children may present with multiple or complex symptoms, and would thus require assessment from a range of specialists to provide them with comprehensive evaluations, and multidisciplinary treatment plans. A range of specialists provide services at the LRC including psychologists, behavior therapists, speech & language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, educational specialists, and consulting physicians. Referrals
=======
Referrals are received from all over Egypt and the Center can also see patients from overseas. If we are not able to assist, we will attempt to provide other suggestions or referrals. We can refer parents to consultant physicians whom we have found to be sensitive to the needs of children who have a wide range of learning difficulties. This approach allows for integrated therapy efforts for children and families.
