Faculty of Pharmacy at The British University in Egypt is proud to host the 12th Eastern Mediterranean Pharmaceutical Symposium (EMPS 2026), organized by the Egyptian Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (EPSF), bringing together participants from 13 countries to exchange knowledge, foster collaboration, and explore the latest advancements in pharmaceutical practice and healthcare innovation.

The symposium is taking place from July 18–21, 2026. The opening ceremony was held on 18 July 2026, under the auspices of Prof. Mohey El-Mazar, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, and Prof. Abdelgawad Hashem, Vice Dean for Teaching and Learning, who welcomed distinguished guests and leaders from various sectors of the pharmaceutical and healthcare fields.

A highlight of the first day was the high-level panel discussion entitled:
β€œUniversal Health Coverage in the Middle East: Integrating Regulation, Quality, and Patient-Centered Care.”
The panel brought together an outstanding group of experts and decision-makers from across the pharmaceutical sector:

β€’ Prof. Abdelnasser Singab – Chair of Pharmaceutical Sector Committee- Supreme Council of Universities. Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research

β€’ Dr. Yassin Ragaei – Chairman Assistant, Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA)

β€’ Dr. Hend El-Husseiny – General Head of Surveyors Affairs, GAHAR

β€’ Dr. Hamdy Fathy – Member of the Scientific Committee of DUPHAT

β€’ Dr. Wael Ali – Head of the Middle East Office of the FIP

Moderated by Associate Professor Noha Alaa, the discussion explored the role of pharmacists in achieving universal health coverage, strengthening regulatory frameworks, enhancing healthcare quality, and fostering innovation to improve patient outcomes across the region.

The Faculty of Pharmacy extends its sincere appreciation to all speakers, delegates, organizers, and participants for contributing to a successful opening day. 🌍✨ The British University in Egypt is set to become the meeting point for pharmacy students and professionals from across the Middle East.

For the first time in its history, the Eastern Mediterranean Pharmaceutical Symposium (EMPS) will be hosted at a university, and we are proud that The British University in Egypt (BUE) has been selected to host its 12th edition.

Organized by the Egyptian Pharmaceutical Students' Federation (EPSF) and hosted by EPSF-BUE, the symposium will bring together participants from 13 countries to exchange knowledge, explore pharmaceutical advancements, develop leadership skills, and strengthen regional collaboration.

Over four inspiring days, EPSF-BUE will welcome future pharmacists, student leaders, and healthcare innovators from across the Eastern Mediterranean region, showcasing BUE as a hub for academic excellence, international engagement, and student leadership.

This is more than a conference, it is a historic milestone for BUE and EPSF-BUE, a celebration of regional collaboration, and an opportunity to help shape the future of pharmacy.
