March 21 is Trisomy 21 – Down syndrome Awareness Day. Down syndrome is the most common genetic condition during pregnancy. Prenatal screening of Trisomy 21, can be performed during the 1st and 2nd trimester by biochemical and ultrasound screening tests and via NIPT. Positive results should always be discussed with your healthcare practitioner, and confirmatory diagnosis of positive cases is recommended.
