A few years ago, I dreamed of creating a place where dancers could slow down, explore deeply, and feel truly supported.

The Moving Canvas grew from that wish and I invit you to the 2nd edition.

Three days.
Five dancers.
One shared studio
in the mountains of Spain.

An invitation to listen to your body
and deepen your movement.

We explore how your body moves,
how energy flows, and how you shape yourself in space, so you gain more choice, clarity, and freedom.

October 2–4, 2026

An old memory, rising like the tide...
This footage is from 2009, during the then world-famous Tribal Umrah Festival in France. By the sea, just before a storm rolled in, the wind rushing through our hair, the air charged, everything alive.

I founded The Uzumé Dance Company in 2005, and this moment carries the essence of what we were exploring back then: movement beyond time, bodies listening deeply, dance as ritual, as breath, as becoming.

Here I am dancing with Maya Acid, the person I danced with the most and the longest, a truly magic dancing duo. So much of The Uzumé lived in that deep, wordless connection between us. Trust, attunement, knowing exactly when to lead and when to follow, dissolving into one shared flow.

As Amy Sigil of UNMATA once wrote:
“The Uzumé is the future, the past and the present. With elements of ancient, ties to reality and glimpses of the future, you’ll never know exactly where you are, but you won’t want to leave.”

Looking back now, I feel how true that was. Grace in motion, flowing seamlessly from one moment into the next, as Na’la from Shakra Dance Company so beautifully described, completely symphonic with each other and the music.

Some dances don’t belong to one moment in time.
They live on in the body, the memory, the wind.

Throwback to 2009 (that’s almost 17 years ago!)

I had just returned a few weeks earlier from an incredible six-month study adventure in the US, made possible by a talented-dancer grant from the NFPK. That time shaped me deeply: six months away from home with nothing but dance on my mind. Long days in the studio, becoming an honorary member of UNMATA, new inspirations, meeting a ton of amazing people whom I can still call friends to this day, and a whole new layer of artistry unfolding.

In this old video you can already see my love for flamenco, and the fusion of it, even before I fully understood how much it would one day merge into my fusion work. My roots in oriental dance were already touched by Zambra Mora through the legacy of Elena Lentini, and I had taken a few years of flamenco. I am a fusion dancer at heart. It’s beautiful to look back and witness the beginnings of who I was becoming.

Since my love for flamenco fusion never died, I am so thrilled to have found classes in Contemporary Flamenco here in Alicante, a style that fits me like a glove, and one I wish had been available to me years ago. ;)

This piece also found its way onto the Tales of Desire II DVD by Hollywood Music Centre, recorded in LA during my time there. So grateful for that journey… a long time ago, but still very close to my heart.

Interested in taking workshops with me? I have a very special workshop weekend coming up next year with a dear friend. So stay tuned.

Phase I - The Moving Canvas

Exploring the Essentials
Movement begins with awareness. In this foundational phase, The Moving Canvas, we explore the core principles of Laban Movement Analysis: Body, Effort, Shape, and Space. Just like a painter needs a diverse palette, a dancer thrives on a rich vocabulary of movement. Through guided explorations, improvisation, and structured exercises, you will deepen your understanding of how your body moves, how energy is expressed, how shapes transform in space, and how movement choices shape artistic expression.

This phase is about building a strong, versatile foundation—expanding your movement possibilities, refining spatial awareness, and unlocking new ways of expression. Whether you’re new to Laban’s work or seeking to refine your artistry, this phase will provide the tools to move with more clarity, intention, and creativity.
