Nutrition is the foundation of health. There is an old saying in Traditional Chinese Medicine, "First, modify the patient's diet and lifestyle and then, if that does not effect a cure, treat with medicinals and acupuncture."

This is one of the reasons that we often recommend a few months of nutrition and dietary therapy BEFORE we use acupuncture.

Much of what we are doing with acupuncture, from a conventional viewpoint, is asking the body to do specific biochemical and hormones actions. IF the nutrition is not in place for these reactions to occur, then acupuncture is of no use. Your body can't do what we ask (say make serotonin) if you are nutritionally deficient.
