Silence doesn't protect us from trauma. It confirms it.

This is a personal experience of antisemitism in a professional healing space and what it did to my nervous system in the weeks that followed. Shaking, hypervigilance, generalization, loss of felt safety, loss of focus, of sleep, rumination, anger, sadness etc. Not weakness. Biology.

I'm speaking because staying quiet would mean integrating this fear as truth. And I'm not willing to do that.

Sometimes when we are exposed to war we think the main reaction should be sadness or anxiety.

But the body often reacts in a more primitive way. It prepares to fight or to flee. And when neither is possible, the system can collapse into freeze. That’s when people feel numb, powerless, disconnected, or strangely tense.

What many of us don’t realize is that aggression is a natural survival response. It doesn’t mean wanting violence. It means your body mobilized energy to protect life.

Taking care of yourself in times of collective violence is not selfish.
It’s what allows us to stay human in the middle of it.

It's okay if you don't understand, it's okay if we don't know what to answer your message. But our body will know. We will know you see us, you're there for us. We will know we are not alone in this. And this changes everything.
Send the message, it doesn't matter if you haven't been in contact for a long time. Or if you don't know what to say show presence, empathy, just be there. Make us laugh, make us cry, I don't care. But be there.

There’s a moment in healing that no one prepares you for.
The moment where understanding yourself no longer brings relief, only tension.

Where every choice is filtered through:
“Am I regulated enough?”
“Is this a trauma response?”
“Should I wait until I’m more healed?”
And slowly, life gets postponed.
This isn’t a failure.
It’s not resistance.
It’s often a nervous system that learned safety through control.
But healing was never meant to replace living.
It was meant to give you enough inner safety to take risks again.
To choose without certainty.
To be in relationships without guarantees.
To live while still being human.
If you’ve been doing the work for a long time and feel stuck, then maybe the next step isn’t more insight.
Maybe it’s permission.
Permission to live before you feel ready.
Save this if it resonates.
And tell me this: does healing ever feel like another pressure for you?

Being the “strong one” isn’t just about carrying others.

True strength is knowing when to ask for help — and letting someone hold you back sometimes.
Growth lives there.

Some things didn’t happen because of your wounds, your patterns, or something you failed to see.

They happened because life can be painful and uncontrollable.
And you’re allowed to stop carrying the weight of explaining it.

Feeling exhausted, tense, or helpless after scrolling the news isn’t weakness.
Your nervous system is reading threat signals, even if the danger is far away.

You can care deeply without flooding yourself.
Limiting news, taking breaks, and grounding your body aren’t avoidance, they’re regulation.
A regulated system allows you to act, show empathy, and stay connected, far more than a system running on constant alarm.

Give yourself permission to protect your nervous system.
You’re not disconnected. You’re human.

If you’re replaying the moment and wondering “did I want this?”, that doubt isn’t evidence of consent but evidence of a nervous system that went into survival. Confusion, self-blame and minimization are common after freeze, not proof that it was your fault. Your reactions make sense, even if the experience doesn’t.

Sometimes there is nothing you could have done differently.
Nothing more to understand.
Nothing to fix.

And that’s incredibly hard for the mind to accept.
Because searching for a mistake, a lesson, something to “work on”
gives us a sense of control.
It makes pain feel more rational. More manageable.

But some painful things happen without meaning.
Without responsibility.
Without a hidden message.

It’s not a failure to stop trying to make sense of everything.
It’s not giving up to accept that not everything is about you.
Sometimes healing begins when you stop placing yourself at the center of every outcome.

Letting go doesn’t mean indifference.
It means releasing the weight of constant self-involvement.
It means allowing life to contain uncertainty,
without turning it into self-blame or a personal project.

You don’t always have something to work on.
Sometimes, you’re simply moving through something difficult.
And that is enough.
