🦟 That mosquito bite that won't stop swelling might be more than "just a bite."

Barcelona's tiger mosquitoes are especially active in August, small, aggressive, and biting during the day (not just at dusk like you'd expect). 😬

Here's how to tell a normal bite from something worth checking:

✅ Normal reaction: Small red bump, mild itching, resolves in 2–3 days
⚠️ Worth watching: Swelling larger than a pea or kidney bean, spreading redness, warmth to the touch
🚨 See a doctor: Fever, widespread hives, difficulty breathing, or bites that look infected (pus, increasing pain, red streaking)

Some people develop skeeter syndrome, a stronger allergic-type reaction to mosquito saliva that causes significant swelling and discomfort. It's more common than people realise and very manageable with the right treatment. 💛

🌊 That jellyfish sting isn't just annoying; treating it wrong can make it worse.

Barcelona's beaches are glorious in August.
They're also when jellyfish sightings peak, and most people still treat stings completely wrong. 😬

Here's what actually works 👇
🔴 DO: Rinse with seawater (not fresh water, it worsens the sting)
🔴 DO: Remove any visible tentacles with tweezers, not your fingers
🔴 DO: Apply heat (hot water, not ice) to ease the pain
🔴 DON'T: Use vinegar unless you know the jellyfish species, as it can worsen certain stings
