Embodied Anatomy: The Atlanto-occipital joint.
Encapsulated in the freedom of this joint is a profound question that offers us some great insights.
Imagine you have a tiny rocking chair resting in the bowl of your atlas, that's the top of the neck almost at the height of your ears. Now visualise it rocking to see if you can find a little rocking of the skull on the atlas, a micro-movement. This is a simple way to feel the head articulate freely. To sustain this feeling, let your jaw be touched by gravity and find the support of your peripheral vision - in other words; 'don't lose the bigger picture'.
