🚨 Carers Required – 24-Hour Live-in Care Package (Periana )

Nightingale Nursing & Home Care Services is looking for experienced carers to join a new 24-hour care package starting immediately. The package consists of ongoing 24-hour shifts on a rota basis.

This is for an elderly kadu with complex physical care needs. She requires assistance with all aspects of daily living, including:

• Personal care, washing, dressing and grooming.
• Support with mobility, transfers and repositioning, with a strong focus on safe moving and handling.
• Continence care and maintaining dignity at all times.
• Medication support and close observation for any changes in health or wellbeing.
• Encouragement with eating, drinking and hydration.
• General companionship, reassurance and emotional support.
• Maintaining accurate daily care records and communicating effectively with the Nightingale management team.

We’re looking for carers who are:

• Calm, patient and compassionate.
• Confident providing high-dependency care.
• Reliable, observant and able to recognise when a client’s condition may be changing.
• Comfortable working independently while following a detailed care plan and clinical guidance.
• Fluent in English. Spanish would be an advantage but is not essential.

If you are available for 24-hour shifts over the coming weeks and think you would be a good fit for this package, please send me a private WhatsApp message with your availability and a brief summary of your experience.

Thank you,

Paul Tilly

📋 Are you British and of pension age? Could you or a loved one be entitled to Attendance Allowance?

If you have reached State Pension age and need help or supervision because of an illness, disability or health condition, you may be eligible for Attendance Allowance - even if nobody currently provides that help.

However, applying can feel overwhelming. The official claim form is 32 pages long, with detailed questions about:

• Personal care and everyday routines
• Getting dressed, washing, eating or taking medication
• Staying safe during the day or night
• How often help is needed
• The difference between good days and difficult days
• Medical conditions, treatments and supporting information

Knowing what information to include- and explaining how your condition affects daily life - is extremely important and can be the difference between a successful application and one that´s not.

At Nightingale Nursing and Home Care Services, we are experienced in supporting people through the Attendance Allowance application process. We can help you understand the questions, describe your care needs clearly and prepare a thorough application.

✅ Expert, compassionate guidance
✅ Help completing the application
✅ Support gathering the right information
✅ A less stressful process for you and your family
✅ Translation of all Spanish medicatal documents into English for submission

Don’t struggle through 32 pages alone.

📞 Contact Nightingales today on 744 70 22 78 or send us a private message to arrange a consultation and find out how we can help.

Eligibility depends on individual circumstances. Applicants generally need to have reached State Pension age and required help or supervision for at least six months. Different arrangements apply in Scotland and Northern Ireland, while UK nationals living elsewhere in Europe may be subject to additional rules.

Dependency care funding is increasing in Andalucía.
Do you know how to access it?

Big news for families caring for elderly or dependent relatives in Andalucía.

Spain has announced a major increase in dependency care funding, with the State moving towards covering 50% of Andalucía’s dependency care costs.

For families, this matters.

It means increased financial support for people who have a recognised level of dependency, including those who need help with washing, dressing, mobility, dementia care, medication support, daily supervision, or remaining safely at home.

But here’s the part many people miss:

The support does not arrive automatically just because someone is struggling.

Families still need to understand the system, apply properly, gather the right medical evidence, navigate Spanish paperwork, follow up, and know what type of care support they are actually entitled to.

And for many English-speaking expats, that is where things become overwhelming.

At Nightingale Nursing and Home Care Services, we help families through the whole process, from understanding dependency entitlement to preparing the paperwork, explaining the care needs clearly, supporting assessments, and putting safe, professional care in place at home.

We already support families across the Axarquía and Costa del Sol with home care, dementia care, hospital appointments, medical paperwork, family communication, and care planning.

This latest funding change is good news.

But good news only helps if families know how to access it.

If you or a loved one may need help applying for dependency support, or if you are unsure whether you are receiving the care funding you may be entitled to, speak to Nightingale.

For English-speaking families in Andalucía, we are the trusted choice for navigating care, dependency support, and safe care at home.

🚨 Attention clients: Please note that over 5,700 doctors in the Málaga province are on strike this week — from Monday 15th June to Friday 19th June 2026.

🔹 What’s happening: All public (and many private) medical staff are protesting the current “statute framework” governing working conditions. Their demands: fair pay for on-call shifts, better recognition for their work, and more control over where and how they are assigned.
🔹 What it means for you: Expect possible delays or cancellations of non-urgent appointments and procedures, and limited staffing across hospitals and healthcare centres.
🔹 What to do if you were due to see a doctor: Contact the centre directly to check whether your appointment is affected — or consider postponing unless it’s urgent.

We’ll keep you updated if there are further changes.

Residents across Andalucía and the rest of Spain should be aware of a series of planned doctors’ strikes in the coming months.

The confirmed strike dates are:

• May 18–22
• June 15–19

✅ What You Should Do

1. Check your appointment date now.
2. If it falls within strike dates and is not urgent, consider:
* Rearranging it in advance
* Booking an earlier or later slot
* Cancelling if no longer required

Do not wait until the morning of your appointment. Systems may be overloaded.

For elderly or vulnerable patients, especially those dependent on regular reviews or medication renewals, it is strongly advised to check arrangements now.

Planning ahead avoids frustration later.

The Spanish public health system is under strain. Whatever one’s view of the dispute, patients benefit most from preparation, not panic.

👉 The Andalusian Health Service offers a FREE teletranslation service in 46 languages.

Yes, 46.

It works like this:
Your doctor, nurse, or emergency team can connect you instantly to a professional interpreter on a three-way call. You speak your language. They speak theirs. The interpreter bridges the gap in real time.

No confusion. No guesswork. No risk.

✔ Available across public healthcare services
✔ Confidential and secure
✔ Immediate support, even in urgent situations

And for many major languages, it’s available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

At Nightingale Nursing & Homecare Services, we see first-hand how language barriers can impact care. Knowing this service exists could quite literally change the outcome of a consultation.

📞 If you ever feel stuck, ask your healthcare provider about Salud Responde teletranslation.

Because understanding your health is not optional. It’s essential

07/04/2026

The Servicio Andaluz de Salud (SAS) is transitioning from SMS to WhatsApp for patient notifications, appointment reminders, and health alerts as part of a digital strategy. This change aims to provide a more modern, efficient, and accessible communication channel, reducing reliance on traditional SMS messages.

Targeted Information: WhatsApp will deliver personalized information, such as appointment details for consultations and diagnostic tests.

Digital Integration: This initiative is part of a broader, €316 million, digitalization strategy by the Junta de Andalucía.

Support via WhatsApp: The ayudaDIGITAL system for health professionals offers 24/7 technical support via WhatsApp, ensuring quick and accessible assistance.

Enhanced Security: The move to WhatsApp aims to enhance security and streamline interactions, replacing older, less secure SMS messages. The SAS has alerted citizens about fraudulent SMS campaigns posing as the health service, asking for personal information or bank details.

No Personal Data over SMS: The SAS never requests personal or financial data via SMS.

Official Channels: Citizens should always verify that notifications come from official sources, such as the official SAS WhatsApp account or app.

This transition marks a significant shift in how the Andalusian health system communicates with citizens, focusing on improved efficiency and security in the digital age
