🌿 Earth Element - The Season of Transition

Late summer is a time of balance, a gentle shift from summer’s outward energy toward autumn’s quieter reflection.

The Earth element invites us to slow down, nourish ourselves, and reconnect with our centre. 🌾

In practice, we’ll explore movements to strengthen the core while cultivating confidence, self-worth, and inner harmony.

✨ A moment to pause, ground, and embrace transition

Time to ease the transition into late summer with a body clock practice

Summer can not last forever, schools are going back, nights are drawing in, and the Fire element completes its phase in the five element cycle. Before we begin our yinward transition with the Earth element, let’s take an opportunity to rebalance, take stock and harmonise our bodyclock. Changing seasons are never easy, this practice will help ease the transition and balance energy levels.

🌙 Calm the mind & sleep more deeply

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, restful sleep is closely connected to the Heart and the Fire element.

When we’re stressed, anxious or emotionally unsettled, the mind can become busy and sleep can feel restless.

In TCM, the Heart houses the Shen — our spirit and mind. When the Shen is settled, we can feel more grounded, calm and ready to rest. ✨

In this week’s Yin class on Thursday, we’ll work with acupressure points to help calm the mind and support restful sleep.

They’re simple to use and can even be practised if you wake during the night.

Simply place the thumb of your opposite hand gently onto the point. Apply light, comfortable pressure, breathe slowly, and allow yourself to soften. 🌿

Join us Thursday and give your mind permission to slow down.

This week we’re exploring the Heart and Small Intestine meridians; creating space, easing tension, and finding emotional balance.

Emotions often settle in the shoulders, chest, and arms. Through a simple standing practice, we’ll gently release what’s been held and invite a greater sense of ease and connection.

I’d love for you to join me in class this week. ❤️

Yoga Classes Are Back This Week! 🎉
I’m so looking forward to seeing some of you back on your mat this week! 🎉

This week, Thursday and Friday classes are running, with Wednesday classes returning next week.

I know many of you will still be away on your summer holidays, so if you can’t make your usual class, please let me know. This is especially helpful for Thursday and Friday, where spaces are limited, as it allows me to offer places to those on the waiting list. Thank you to everyone who has already been in touch. 🙏

More Balance Through Our Practice ✨

With the return of the ☀️, nature feels full of energy and expansion , wildflowers blooming, grasses dancing, and landscapes wide open. Pictured here above Grey Mare’s Tail in the beautiful Moffat Hills 🌿

Sometimes all of this outward energy can leave us feeling ungrounded or overwhelmed. This week’s practice will focus on movement and breath to help create more balance, calm, and ease within.

I hope you can join us 🤍

Please note: Thursday Yin class will start slightly later this week only.

Reduce feelings of anxiety and stress

One of my favourite ways to reduce stress is spending time in nature 🌿 This photo was taken on a quiet beach in Donegal.

In this week’s classes, we’ll continue exploring fascia through flowing, gentle movement. Fascia is now thought to play an important role in interoception; our awareness of how we feel inside. Releasing tension in this connective tissue can help reduce feelings of anxiety and stress held deeply within the fabric of the body.

A fun, accessible practice. I hope you can join us 🤍

Back from a wonderful week walking in Ireland and inspired to focus on fascia 🌿
This week’s classes will explore twisting, spiralling, stretching and flowing movements to help release tension, improve flexibility, and create more ease in body and mind.
Sometimes fascia just needs a little space to breathe 🤍

Movement and the four corners of the body

In spring, we work with Wood energy, movement, stretching, and keeping the body mobilised.

This week, we’ll focus on the shoulders and hips, the “four corners” of the body. When they move freely, everything feels easier; when they’re stiff, movement is limited. We’ll use gentle stretches to help release and open these areas.

At the weekend, I visited the V&A Storehouse in East London and saw an image that reminded me how the body can move with ease when there’s space and freedom through the four corners.

“If the roots are deep we can rise and expand”

Digging out old shrub roots at the weekend was tough, they were deep and spread wide. Those deep roots help plants stay strong, find nourishment, and withstand wild, windy weather.

There’s a Chinese saying: “If the roots are deep, the foundation is strong.”

This week we focus on building that strong base. We’ll move from a steady, grounded position, letting go of tension and stiffness. The aim is to feel balanced, able to sink down into the ground (yin) and rise up with ease (yang).
