This weekend I started a new long-distance route, the High Weald Landscape Trail, setting off from Horsham and making it to East Grinstead.

In total, I covered 42 miles (67.6 km) with 1,485m of ascent. It was a seriously challenging walk, with some fantastic highlights along the way — the spectacular Ouse Valley Viaduct, Stone Hill Rocks, beautiful woodland, wildflower-filled fields and stunning views across Weirwood Reservoir.

The journey has begun — I’ll be back for the next stage soon. 🥾

One of my favourite places—the spectacular Devil's Kneading Trough on the Wye Downs. 🌿

I recently visited with my son and filmed a short video about the forthcoming Ashford Camino Wellbeing Walks programme.

This week I completed John Merrill's Romney Marsh Pilgrimage, crossing the marshes through Appledore, Fairfield, Brookland, Ivychurch, Brenzett, Snargate and Johnson's Corner before returning along the peaceful Royal Military Canal.

It felt like summer at its finest, sweltering heat, freshly harvested hay, corn swaying in the breeze, ancient churches and bright blue skies.

40km of walking, an unforgettable day.

🌿 This September, the Ashford Camino begins. 🥾

Join us for a free six-week guided wellbeing walking programme, exploring some of Ashford's most beautiful landscapes.

Each Friday we'll follow a different route, discover a new theme, and experience simple nature-based practices designed to support wellbeing, connection and reflection. 🌳

Whether you're looking to improve your wellbeing, meet new people, or simply spend more time outdoors, you'd be very welcome to join us.

We're delighted that this project has been funded through the Health & Nature Fund 2026, part of Kent County Council Nature's Way to Wellbeing programme.

On Friday, I recce’d a beautiful new walk in Hamstreet, near Ashford. With ancient woodland, far-reaching views, grazing sheep and a peaceful trail alongside the Royal Military Canal, it was the perfect way to slow down and reconnect with nature.

A big thank you to Michael at WalkWild Wellbeing for all your help.

🌿 Out and about on the trails this week...

I've been recceing walks for a brand new 6-week guided walking series starting this Autumn.
Quiet paths, beautiful countryside, ancient woodland, majestic trees, wildlife and some truly special places that I can't wait to share with you.

Every route is being carefully explored to make sure each walk offers something memorable – a chance to slow down, connect with nature, and enjoy good company.
