I'm really pleased that our next course will be delivered by my colleague Hayley at Seren Maternity, alongside our experienced midwife.

I've known and worked with Hayley for several years. She's a birth educator, co-admin in the Facebook group I run, and an expat mum living in Madrid.

I know that bringing Hayley's experience and support together with our established prenatal course will make this a really valuable experience for our September group. 💛

The course is designed specifically for English-speaking expectant parents in Spain who want to feel informed, prepared and confident as they approach birth and the early weeks with their new baby.

👶 Together, we'll cover:

• Preparing for labour and birth — the realities of giving birth in Spain
• Understanding your options and making informed decisions
• What to expect in the first hours and days after birth
• Feeding and newborn care
• Recovery after birth
• The emotional transition to parenthood
• Practical preparation for life with a new baby in Spain
• Help understanding the paperwork and practicalities of having a baby in Spain

As well as all the factual information you'll receive from experienced professionals, the course is also a lovely opportunity to meet and connect with other expectant expats at a similar life stage. 🤍

A personal update 🤍

Many of you have been part of my journey over the years, and I really do consider you an extension of my little family here in Madrid. ❤️

In the middle of June, after around 18 months of illness and many hospital admissions, my dad passed away. 💔

My dad taught me to be resilient, to find humour when things go awry, to be humble, and to try to believe the best in people. He wasn't perfect (none of us are!), but he was very real, he loved us, and he did his best. And he was a wonderful granddad to my little boy, Max. ❤️

He will be very missed.

It's been an incredibly difficult time for me and my family, and I've needed to step away from normal life for a while. I've been back in the UK supporting my mum and spending time with my family, and that's where I need to continue to be right now.

I've also been dealing with all the inevitable bureaucracy — as all of you who have had babies know, bureaucracy begins at birth, but I've recently discovered it doesn't end at the other end of life either!

I'm trying to give myself the time and space to be with my family, help my mum, and work out what comes next.

I know I've been quieter than usual, slower to reply and hardly on social media. I wanted you to hear from me rather than wonder where I've been.

I'm still here and still managing my one-to-one services, although I haven't had the capacity to keep everything else updated while dealing with everything that's been going on.

Thank you so much for your understanding, kindness and patience. It means a lot. 🤍

I hope to be back with you, and on better form, soon. 🫶

A special one this year for my brother, who’s celebrating his very first UK Father’s Day with baby George 👶✨ Watching you become a dad has been something really special — and George is one lucky little boy 💫

Father’s Day isn’t celebrated everywhere today, but many of our expat families here in Spain will be marking it — especially those from the UK 🇬🇧, Ireland 🇮🇪, the USA 🇺🇸 and Canada 🇨🇦 💙

To all the dads, step dads, dads-to-be and more — we see you, we appreciate you, and today is for you 👏

Our latest Prenatal Course has come to an end, and it was such a special one 💛

We had a wonderfully international group of parents-to-be from the UK, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Brazil, the US, South Africa and Sweden - such a lovely mix of backgrounds and stories to share 🌍

This course also brought a couple of meaningful firsts for us: the first time the course was gifted by a relative (an incredibly thoughtful present ❤️ ), and the first time welcoming South African parents to the group 🇿🇦

Over the weekend sessions, we covered everything from how the birth system works in Spain, to hospital processes, paperwork, postpartum support, and those first days with your newborn 👶🏻

And we enjoyed our Social Event at - thanks for hosting! 🎉

Thank you to the May group for being such an open, engaged and supportive bunch - it’s always a privilege to be part of this moment.
