Don’t go too crazy on those new years revolutions Kids….

It’s that time of year when carbs take center stage — stuffing, potatoes, breads, cookies… and honestly? That’s not a bad thing.

Carbs aren’t the problem. Feeling like you need to cut them out or “make up for them” usually is.

Your body actually needs carbs — for steady energy, focus, and even mood. The key is learning how to include them in a way that works for you, not against you.

Here’s the trick 👇
🍞 Add protein (like turkey, eggs, or Greek yogurt)
🥦 Include fiber (veggies, beans, fruit)
🥑 Don’t forget fat (olive oil, nuts, avocado)

What is your favorite Thanksgiving carb??
Mine is my moms homemade stuffing ❤️

⚡️⚡️⚡️News flash: FOOD IS POLITICAL

Yesterday, lawmakers voted to slash $290 billion from SNAP-the food assistance program that keeps 40 million low-income Americans from going hungry.

This devastating legislation expands work requirements for food aid, targeting able-bodied adults up to age 65 — many of whom already struggle to find stable work, are underemployed, or are caretakers. Under these new rules, even more people risk losing access to the food they need to survive.

And that’s not all. The bill also threatens Head Start, which provides early education, nutrition, and health services for nearly 1 million children from low-income families. Cutting this means fewer classrooms, fewer opportunities, and more barriers for working families.

These aren’t just budget lines- they’re lifelines.

Stripping away support from SNAP and Head Start punishes the poor, widens inequality, and puts lives at risk.

Finally made it to this past weekend and it lived up to the hype!

We enjoyed lots of Nordic cuisine:

Pickled Mackerel
Smoked Sturgeon Pate
Salmon Gravalax
Farmers cheese and rice Dumpling
Rye Focaccia with tomato balsamic
Grilled Cabbage Caesar Salad
Sunchokes in a red w**e sauce that was UNBELIEVABLE!!

Amazing to continue to see this restaurant kick ass on the awards circuit with a James Beard semifinalist nod and a top 50 restaurants from NYT.

🚨🚨🚨What’s Going on with Compounded GLP-1s?!?

If you’ve been seeing headlines about compounded GLP-1 medications like semaglutide and wondering what’s happening, you’re not alone.

With increasing demand for these medications, some compounding pharmacies have been producing versions but now the FDA is making them stop since there is no longer a shortage.

There’s a lot going on there with safety, legal issues, costs and more- I talked a bit about this on a story yesterday but wanted to make it more succinct.

Let me know what questions you have- I’ve been specializing in diabetes for half my career so I’ve been working with glp1s before they were sexy 😉

Full disclosure: I’m not a weight loss dietitian and I don’t recommend medications for weight loss. I know these medications are everywhere and people are going to take them regardless so just wanted to share the facts. (Also not going to debate this in the comments or DMs but happy to share more in a polite discussion.)
