One day the questions are simple…

“Daddy, why does the moon follow us?” 🌙

Then, before you know it, the questions become about life.

“Can I tell you something?”
“What would you do?”
“I need your advice.”

As a father, I won’t always have the perfect answer. But I want my daughter to always know that she can come to me with the question.

Because if you listen when the little things feel important to them, hopefully they’ll trust you when the big things become important too.

The conversations will change.

The relationship will grow.

But I hope one thing never changes…

“Daddy, can we talk?” ❤️

Be present now. You’re building the relationship they’ll come back to later.

The muscles might catch your eye. But some of the biggest benefits of lifting are the ones you can’t see 👀

When you train with weights, you challenge your bones as well as your muscles.

Over time, that can help maintain or improve bone strength.

Resistance training can also improve how your body handles blood sugar and support metabolic health.

That’s why I keep lifting at 47. Looking strong is nice. Being strong enough to keep doing the things I love as I get older? That’s the real goal.

The mirror only shows part of the progress. 💪🏽

Can’t believe she’s only 12 and so tall. I need to work on my posture so she doesn’t out grow me 😅

Building muscle isn’t just about looking good, it’s about protecting your future.

More strength allows greater progression. Greater progression helps build muscle. More muscle supports your metabolism, blood-sugar control and ability to remain independent as you age. 👵🏽👴🏾

Cardio is important, but don’t live on the treadmill. Lift weights too.

Train for the mirror if you want but build muscle for life. 👊🏾

You could win the lottery and become rich.

You could unexpectedly meet your future life partner.

You could even make a miraculous recovery from an illness.

Some things in life can happen by chance.

But you cannot accidentally build a strong body.

Muscle can’t be attached like Lego, picked up from the supermarket or delivered because you prayed hard enough.

It has to be earned.

Muscle grows through resistance—and so do you.

Yes, some people use assistance to speed up the process, but nothing replaces the training, discipline and consistency required to build an impressive physique.

There is no shortcut around the work.

Your body is physical proof of every rep, every difficult session and every moment you chose not to quit.

Resistance doesn’t stand in the way of growth.

Resistance is what creates it.

A big meal shouldn’t leave you feeling like you need a recovery session. 😂

This plate contains protein, carbohydrates, fats and fibre—so I use MassZymes to support the breakdown of each:
