24 hours in Rome
Because why not?😄
It’s still pretty unbelievable to me that I live within a 3 hour radius of some of the most spectacular places in Europe (in the world?)
My husband had an event in Rome last week and of course I took the opportunity to come with, because…
One of my most favorite temples in the world are there: The Pantheon.
An extraordinary spaceship of a constellation (that they conveniently made into a church😉) I’m always taken to another dimension when I go in there and this time didn’t disappoint.
Not too long ago I came across the name dropping of another church, which is supposedly one of the earliest Marian churches in the world (there is a known earlier on in Ephesus, Turkey, but otherwise this seems to be the location of one of the earliest ones), with a special painting from the 6th century.
While the painting was beautiful, the real treasure in there turned out to be a relic from the cradle of baby Jesus (although I have some doubts that he was really put in a cradle as a baby—however, sometimes these relics simply holds power because so many people have put their prayers and intention into them). What a projection it had! That was a truly spectacular experience.
This church (Santa Maria Maggiore) is also where the most recent Pope Francis is buried. That meant lots of traffic inside, but the space is big enough to hold it.
A lot of the times when I visit churches they remind me of other places I’ve been (portals potentially). This one definitely feels connected to the church in Bethlehem, that we have also went to visit a few times.
If you have the chance to go, I definitely think it’s worth a visit.
