Roha Medical Campus is an integrated health campus that is under development in Addis Ababa

Roha Medical Campus is an integrated health campus that is under development in the heart of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. When complete, it will provide world-class, high-quality, affordable healthcare across extensive medical facilities. Holistic patient care will be delivered with a technology and population health driven approach. In addition, the campus will include a world-class medical school and

facilities for research and innovation. The entire campus will be a lush, green setting, built to the highest sustainability standards, with a beautiful urban park open to the public. Buildout of the campus has begun, with the first hospital slated to open in the next couple of years.

Roha Medical Campus is being developed by Roha Group, an investment firm that responsibly builds companies in Africa.

A valuable week of learning, collaboration, and knowledge sharing at the Vis Med Conference, hosted by Dräger South Africa.

Our Deputy General Manager for Projects, Henry Mutenga, presented the sustainability vision behind Roha’s Advanced Multi-Specialty Hospital, including our approach to green building infrastructure, reforestation and the Miyawaki forest, and patient-centered healthcare design.

The conference also explored emerging ideas shaping the future of healthcare infrastructure, from energy efficiency and zero-waste ambitions to inclusive design and next-generation ICU concepts.

Roha is proud to be at the forefront of sustainable healthcare development in Africa, and we're committed to driving these conversations and collaborations forward.

We’re honored to see the Roha Miyawaki Forest featured as a showcase urban pocket forest initiative in the latest Resilient Cities Network guide.

Our forest shows how corporate initiatives and ecological restoration can work in tandem. More than just greenery, it is a self-sustaining ecosystem designed to accelerate patient healing while giving our city the room it needs to breathe.

Safety is a shared responsibility, and this team ensures we live it. They’re our dedicated channel for proactive risk identification, transparent incident review, direct employee feedback, and early action on potential hazards.

Our OSH Committee helps us bridge the gap between operational goals and human well-being to build a safer, stronger, and more accountable workplace.

Our Miyawaki Forest isn't just a garden; it is a clinical tool leveraging 12,000 indigenous trees and designed to support recovery and wellbeing.

• Patients with views of nature require fewer pain medications and recover faster.
• Dense green buffers reduce urban noise, lowering stress and improving sleep.
• Urban tree canopies naturally filter pollutants, creating cleaner, safer air for vulnerable patients.
• Forests lower local surface temperature, reducing heat island effect and cooling costs.

As we build for the future, we're continuously exploring how to integrate environmental solutions into clinical design, because better environments create better outcomes.

Over the past few weeks, most of the action has been happening in back-of-house areas. The utility building structure is complete and ready to house critical mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) equipment.

Installation of underground services has advanced across the site to the back-of-house delivery yard, paving the way for the next phase of the project.

Our stormwater management system is now in place at the Roha Health Ethiopia compound. The network of drains and channels ensures that only clean rainwater is collected and safely directed away, safeguarding our hospital and the surrounding environment. We’re building responsibly from the ground up, protecting our future patients, staff, and community. 🌱
