A delegation from the Embassy of Japan in Ethiopia, represented by Ms. Nozomi Imoto and Ms. Eskedar Nadew, today paid an official working visit to St. Paul's Hospital Millennium Medical College (SPHMMC). They were warmly received by the College's leadership—Provost Dr. Muluken Tesfaye, Vice Provost Dr. Ewenet Gebrehanna, Dr. Lemi Belay, and GI Unit Head Dr. Yemisirach.
During the meeting, Dr. Muluken expressed profound gratitude for Japan's continued support, particularly in strengthening gastrointestinal services at the hospital—a contribution that has significantly enhanced clinical capacity and patient care within the unit.
Discussions then progressed toward expanding institutional-level collaboration between SPHMMC and Japanese medical institutions. Both sides explored opportunities to establish formal partnerships with hospitals, universities, and research centers in Japan. Key areas of focus include faculty and student exchanges, joint development of specialized training programs, collaborative clinical research, and the sharing of best practices in healthcare administration and medical education.
Both parties mutually agreed to intensify and broaden their institutional ties moving forward.
In a gesture of appreciation, St. Paul's formally presented the Embassy delegation with a Certificate of Acknowledgement, honoring Japan's enduring contribution to Ethiopian healthcare.
