Webinar Concept: GC8 Situational Progress – Country Experiences
(Tracking Community Engagement, Emerging Lessons and Opportunities in GC8 Processes)
📅 Date: Wednesday, 13th May 2026
🕒 Time: 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM (EAT)
📍 Platform: Zoom (LINK)
Background
Countries across the world are currently advancing through the Global Fund Grant Cycle 8 (GC8)
funding request and implementation processes. As these processes unfold, communities, civil
society, and national stakeholders are navigating evolving priorities around sustainability,
integration, financing, health systems strengthening, and meaningful community engagement.
While GC8 presents an important opportunity to strengthen HIV, TB, malaria, and RSSH
responses, experiences across countries demonstrate that progress has been uneven. Some
countries have made notable strides in fostering inclusive country dialogue and integratingcommunity priorities, while others continue to face challenges related to representation,
transparency, prioritization, financing, and coordination.
At the same time, there is increasing recognition that communities are not only beneficiaries of
Global Fund investments, but also critical actors in shaping responsive and accountable national
health responses. Capturing real-time experiences from countries is therefore essential to
support learning, strengthen advocacy, and inform technical support efforts throughout the GC8
cycle.
In response to this, ACT Africa is conducting a regional survey to gather insights from HIV, TB,
and malaria community networks on their engagement and experiences within GC8 processes.
The survey seeks to document levels of community participation, identify gaps and emerging
challenges, and highlight promising practices that can strengthen inclusive and
community-informed approaches moving forward.
It is within this context that ACT Africa, in collaboration with partners, convenes the webinar:
“GC8 Situational Progress – Country Experiences.” The session will provide a platform for
country stakeholders and community representatives to share practical reflections on the
current status of GC8 processes, including stakeholder engagement, priority setting, integration
efforts, and lessons emerging from implementation and grant development spaces.
The webinar aims to foster cross-country learning and encourage dialogue on how GC8
processes can remain inclusive, transparent, and responsive to community realities and national
priorities.
The webinar seeks to:
1. Provide an overview of the current status of GC8 processes across selected countries
and regions.2. Share country-level experiences, lessons, and challenges emerging from GC8 planning,
consultation, and implementation processes.
3. Explore how communities are engaging in GC8 decision-making spaces, including
opportunities and barriers to meaningful participation.
4. Highlight emerging themes around integration, prioritization, sustainability, transition
and responsiveness within HIV, TB, malaria, and RSSH programming.
5. Promote cross-country learning and identify opportunities for strengthening inclusive
and community-informed GC8 processes.
Key Discussion Areas
The webinar discussions will explore:
● Current progress and milestones in GC8 processes across countries
● Community participation and stakeholder engagement experiences
● Emerging priorities and funding trends across HIV, TB, malaria, and RSSH
● Lessons from country dialogue and grant writing processes
● Integration and sustainability considerations within GC8
● Key challenges, gaps, and opportunities for improvement
● Community recommendations for strengthening accountability and inclusivity

Today, we had an important discussion with Sputnik Africa on World TB Day 2026, reflecting on this year’s theme which emphasizes the need to actively engage all key stakeholders and communities. The conversation highlighted critical issues surrounding why tuberculosis continues to claim many lives, underscoring the urgent need for sustained and adequate resources through both donor support and strengthened domestic financing to ensure long-term sustainability.

The World TB Day 2026 Campaign Toolkit is now available!

The Stop TB Partnership is proud to launch this year’s campaign theme:

“Yes! We Can End TB. Led by […]. Powered by […].”

Building on the global rallying cry of the past three years, the 2026 theme highlights what truly drives progress: country leadership and the power of people.

Countries are not just participants in the fight against TB — they are leading it. And progress is powered every day by communities, TB survivors, health workers, advocates, innovators, and partners who refuse to accept TB as inevitable.

The toolkit provides adaptable, multilingual resources to help countries and partners engage around World TB Day, including:
- Editable slogan “Yes! We Can End TB. Led by […]. Powered by […].”, so that you can create your custom World TB Day slogan
- A set of pre-prepared slogans examples
- Social media frame
- Conference call background

This flexible, modular theme invites you to define leadership and action in your own context — reinforcing ownership, accountability, and people-centred progress toward ending TB by 2030.

Let’s unite under a shared global message — and make it our own.
