On Monday 18th May Annabel delivered a talk on "Ageing Well in Finland" at Finnbrit Society in their Punavuori office just next door to Compass Psychology.

Annabel has conducted research on ageing and well-being and worked in services for older adults in public mental health in Australia.

Last week our psychologists Annabel and Christina visited Espoo Talent Hub to deliver a workshop on psychological resilience for NGO workers and volunteers.

Annabel spoke about setting ethical boundaries, validating client's experiences and using ACT therapy principles to increase psychological flexibility.

Dr Tatiana Bernal Sánchez presented a plan for a narrative and systems informed anxiety reduction program at today in our Tuesday PD.
Also visiting were Antti and Lizeth from the school - Lizeth is the school psychologist at The English School and also a psychologist with us at Compass Psychology. The three of them are implementing this project together, due to end in August 2026. Tatiana is currently completing an internship with Compass Psychology in our Turku office.

This looks like an amazing program to address an identified need to help the students of The English School in Helsinki.

Hatty led our PD (Professional Development) session this week on the topic of attachment, a fundamental part of psychology that looks at how close/ distant or anxious/stable a person's connection is to a parental figure or others.

She introduced Crittenden's dynamic model of attchment that changes over the lifespan, called the DMM (Dynamic-Maturational Model of Attachment and Adaptation) and discussed implications for clients at all ages.
