Today was the last park yoga session after 3 months of practicing together with you outside 🧘🥰

Now the weather is getting cooler, so I think it’s fair to say that the summer is about to end here in Helsinki and now it’s time to practice inside again.

Thank you, it has been a great experience this year organizing these outdoor yoga classes for you 🙏🏻

It has been nice to see some of you taking this parc yoga as an opportunity to come back to your Yoga mats!

It has been being exciting to see many of you reconnecting with the breathing mechanism and succeeding to calm down your mind after a very busy year 😌

In May when initiating this Friday class, I was a bit doubtful about how we will cope with weather conditions and the sea breeze here in Jätkäsaari.

But it has been lovely to build this group who dared to practice sometimes with a few rains drops, sometimes with a bit of wind… and take advantage of the summer to enjoy the sun and outdoor mornings ☀️

Next summer we will definitely practice again together in this little grass corner facing the sea 🌊

For now I hope you will enjoy the fall colors coming 🧡

➡️ If you are interested in organizing yoga/mobility classes in your company or with a small group of friends, feel free to reach out 📩

Ultra-marathon recovery ⬇️💪

Many of you have asked me how I’ve been recovering after my mid-July ultra (100Km /7000m D+). I have to admit that recovery after such long endurance efforts (>25h) is... a complex subject.

Swipe…

Obviously I’m just sharing my own experience; I’m not pretending to be a pro-athlete ☺️

After the really rewarding feeling of being a Finisher, the priority is to repay your body and recover the sleep deficit you might have experienced during the race. That’s the starting point 🙏🏻

Swipe

But if I had to make a post-Ultra check-list of recovery priorities, here is one 👇

✅ Restore sleep first: long nights and naps to compensate for the race-related sleep deficit

Swipe

✅ Return to nourishing, balanced food:
- Remember that high carb intake during ultras can irritate/damage the stomach
- Reintroduce protein, fiber, vegetables, and vitamins to normalize digestion and recovery

Swipe

✅ Maintain gentle movement as tolerated:
- Yoga/mobility work based on feeling
- Outdoor low-intensity activity (hiking, walking, time in the sun)

Swipe

And if we think about how long it takes to get back to normal training, here is the overall Week-by-Week Approach I tend to follow:

Swipe

✅ Week 1: Reset the basics
- Re-establish normal day/night rhythm
- Focus on recovery nutrition and replenishing energy
- Keep training minimal and feel-based (mobility, gentle movement)

Swipe

✅Week 2: Return to training carefully (avoid false “reset” feeling)
- Do not jump back to normal gym programming
- Prioritize thorough warm-ups; mobility and stretching; restoring joint movement and reducing stiffness; running (“grandma style” pace; if doing intervals, significantly reduce intensity)
- Strength: focus on correct movement patterns, KEEP YOUR EGO OUT OF IT, and accept using very light weights (in the FS video I have only 40 kg)
- Goal: rebuild volume, not intensity.

Swipe

✅ Week 3: Gradual reintroduction of intensity
- Begin to increase intensity slightly if feeling normal, but avoid pushing hard
- Continue nutrition focus post-training
- Keep using naps and quality sleep as primary recovery tools

Swipe

Then …➡️

✅ Week 4:

Kinesiology taping is really well-known among sporty people for its ability to support any muscle weakness or tendinopathy situation 💪

We can debate on the placebo effect and research outcomes of such techniques…

But what is less commonly known is that one of the best way to use it (at least from my point of view) is to reduce any swelling or edema situation 🙏🏻

Swelling/œdèmes can happens after an uncontrolled movement of ankle/ knee/elbow or shoulder during your training.

Depending on your sport, you might also have some swelling because of a very brutal impact… Applying kinesio tape will significantly help you to manage it & reduce it 🙌

One of the reasons why kinesio taping is bringing best results versus any kind of manual lymphatic drainage or any manual maneuver is because tape will stay on the area for up to 5 days, (less if the swelling is reducing quickly) & it will basically be effective all the time.

Another big advantage of this technique is that we can basically apply kinesio taping in any area.

Obviously it will not heal the true problem. If, for example, you sprain / strain your ankle, don’t expect any magical: a PROPER rehab process will be needed. But the faster you manage pain and swelling, the faster you can start rehab.

I will be happy to apply tape for you if you are having a treatment, but don’t hesitate also to drop me a quick message. ( IG / WhatsApp or email) for any advice 🧡

With summer we are enjoying the ☀️ and often switching our indoor gym training to more and more outside activities!

During my running sessions I see more and more runners… being an ultra runner myself I feel it is super cool 🔥

But also I see more and more people coming in the treatment room with a kind of a 🐧 penguin walk because the calves are super sore ( even painful in some cases) 😬

When we are increase the volume of running and plyo exercises, calves muscles (gastrocnemius, soleus, plantaris etc.) become a bit tight and start losing their flexibility and their ability to be lengthened which leads to a VERY BAD impact on the Achilles tendon 💁🏼‍♀️

Did you know that the Achilles tendon is the largest and strongest tendon in your body? It’s connected from the calf muscles to the heel bones and this structure allows to make your feet move downwards to elevate your toes.

But mainly its function is to generate an explosive forward proportions which are mainly used for running and jumping.

Despite it being the strongest tendons of your body, it is not a supposed to be a STRETCHABLE structure 🙅🏼‍♀️

➡️ meaning that if your muscles are too sore and almost losing the ability to lengthen, that means that your Achilles tendon will overwork to compensate this lack of flexibility and that’s where you might generate tendinopathy, which is very annoying and a super long process to heal 🥲

So before reaching that point when you feel that your calves (basically your legs) are super heavy and you are lacking propulsions, it’s really the time to have a treatment in order to release the muscles and give back proper ability for muscle function. Any risk for your tendon should be prevented 🙏🏻

Ideally you should even come before the symptoms develop 😇

If you feel like it’s something you need to di for your body, send me a message and let’s find the best treatment for you 💌

Psst… I’ll also speak about feet and shin splints injuries… but in a another post😉

Outdoor morning yoga in Jätkäsaari? 🙌 Yes, yes and yes!👇

Hey, it's finally summer here in Helsinki, so no need to practice yoga indoors… for a few months 😉

Let's enjoy our time outdoors and practice all together 🥰

Yes, I said all together! 💗 You don't need to be a very good yogini to come and join.

Everybody is free to come & be sure that everybody (whatever your level is) will find some good challenges, either discovering yoga or more skilled deepening of posture and some breathing techniques.

So, be sure that everybody will find their own challenges during the class 💪

Starting Friday (22.05), I propose one hour per week in Jätkäsaari.

Location: Saukonpaadenkärki area (the end of Saukonpaadenranta, near the sea), close to the neighborhood’s beloved swimming spot. There is a perfect garden there 😍

If you’re unsure where to join, just send me a message and I’ll share a Google maps link 😊

Feel free to join every Friday at 8.30 🧘‍♀️ I will have a few spare yoga mats if you don’t have your own.

Let's all enjoy the summer together ☀️

If you have any questions about the outdoor yoga or my other services, send me a message .yoga.massage 💌
