Our summer trainee Viivi helped cut water consumption in our painting facility by 50%! 💧
At Planmeca, offering meaningful opportunities for young people at different stages of their careers is an important part of our social responsibility efforts. This summer, we welcomed 90 summer interns to our headquarters in Helsinki, and once again, they brought fresh perspectives, new ideas and valuable expertise to our teams.
One of them was Viivi, who studies industrial engineering at LUT University and has a background in chemistry from Aalto University. During her summer at Planmeca, she led a project focused on reducing water consumption in our painting facility.
Viivi investigated opportunities for process optimisation and water reuse across different stages of the painting line. Through these efforts, Viivi succeeded in cutting water consumption by half during the test phase, according to data from the automated water consumption monitoring system now integrated into the production line. As more data becomes available over the next year, we will be able to determine whether the overall reduction is even greater.
We are proud to work with such talented young professionals and grateful for Viivi's outstanding contribution. Thank you, Viivi, and well done! 👏
