The Special Administrator, Mr John Tuiono, attended a high-level stakeholders meeting regarding the Emerald Bay
Development Project, alongside representatives from the Water Authority of Fiji, National Planning Office, Fiji Roads Authority, Energy Fiji Limited, contractors, and the Emerald Bay development team.

As one of Fiji's significant national development projects, the Emerald Bay Development continues to play a vital role in supporting economic growth, infrastructure expansion, and future investment opportunities. The meeting focused on ensuring all key stakeholders work together in unity to address challenges, minimise project setbacks, and establish clear pathways forward for successful implementation.

Mr Tuiono emphasised the importance of collaboration, open communication, and coordinated planning to ensure the project progresses efficiently while delivering long-term benefits to residents, businesses, and the wider community.

Nasinu Town Council remains committed to supporting developments that contribute to sustainable growth, improved infrastructure, and a brighter future for Fiji.

Today, Nasinu Town Council Chairman Mr. Felix Magnus had the honour of serving as the Chief Guest at St. John Bosco Primary School, where he delivered an inspiring message to students on the importance of education, good values, and responsible citizenship.

Mr. Magnus highlighted that education is the foundation for success and the key to developing the future leaders of our beloved nation. He encouraged students to stay focused on their studies, dream big, work hard, and never allow obstacles to stand in the way of their ambitions. He reminded them that every great leader started as a child with a dream and a commitment to learning.

The Chairman also addressed some of the major challenges affecting society today, including drug abuse, crime, violence, bullying, and negative peer pressure, which continue to impact many young people. He urged students to make wise choices, stay away from harmful influences, and focus on activities that will positively contribute to their future and their communities.

Joining the programme was the Police Liaison Officer for the Inter-Agencies Committee, who echoed similar sentiments on the growing concerns surrounding drugs and crime within our communities. He stressed the importance of working together as families, schools, communities, faith-based organisations, government agencies, and law enforcement to address these issues. He reminded students that preventing crime and drug abuse is a shared responsibility and that everyone has a role to play in building safer and stronger communities.

Both speakers encouraged students to show respect for their parents, teachers, elders, and members of the community, uphold strong values, and be positive role models for their peers.

As our society continues to face various social challenges, it is vital that we invest in our young people, empower them through education, and guide them towards making responsible decisions. Together, we can nurture a generation that is not only academically successful but also respectful, resilient, and committed to creating a better future for Fiji.

Today marked a life-changing milestone for 31 families as they proudly received the keys to their new homes at the Housing Authority's Nepani Subdivision. What was once a dream of homeownership has now become a reality—opening the door to a future filled with hope, stability, and opportunity.

While officiating at the handover ceremony, Prime Minister Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka congratulated the new homeowners and reminded them that a house is more than just bricks and mortar—it is a place where families are nurtured, values are taught, and dreams are built.

The Prime Minister encouraged each family to create homes filled with love, respect, and security, where children can grow up with confidence and the support they need to reach their full potential. He emphasised that homeownership is one of the most important foundations for building stronger families and stronger communities.

Mr Rabuka also acknowledged the tremendous work of the Housing Authority in making affordable housing accessible to ordinary Fijian families. Through initiatives such as the Nepani development, more families are being given the opportunity to invest in their futures and create lasting legacies for generations to come.

He commended Minister for Housing and Local Government, Hon. Maciu Nalumisa, for his commitment to exploring innovative and affordable housing solutions from around the world. These ideas have the potential to help more Fijians realise the dream of owning a home while ensuring no one is left behind.

Drawing from examples overseas, the Prime Minister highlighted how surplus building materials can be repurposed to construct homes for vulnerable members of society, including those rebuilding their lives after hardship. Such initiatives, he said, demonstrate the power of housing to restore dignity, provide hope, and create a fresh start for individuals and families.

In a heartfelt moment, Mr Rabuka shared his own family's journey and the challenges they faced in pursuing education and opportunities while striving to establish a home. Reflecting on those experiences, he reminded the new homeowners that today's achievement is only the beginning.

He urged parents to invest in their children's future, providing them with the guidance, education, and encouragement needed to succeed. Looking around the new neighbourhood, he noted that among the children growing up there could be Fiji's future leaders, perhaps a Prime Minister, a President, or individuals who will make significant contributions to the nation's development over the next several decades.

"As you celebrate this achievement, cherish your homes, support your neighbours, and build a community where families can thrive," he said. "The home you move into today may shape the future of the nation tomorrow."

Congratulations to all 31 families on this remarkable achievement. May your new homes be filled with happiness, blessings, and countless memories for many years to come.
